if you've got multiple listings, merge them
I was able to do it in about 5 minutes, and that was with 350+ contacts (just from gmail/exchange) and 150+ facebook friends. - 04-28-2010, 07:43 PM

Is there anyway to delete contacts that Gmail has added in? It wont let me delete my Gmail account to re-do it without syncing contacts

I have a related question:
My Inc comes tomorrow. I've already prepped my Google contacts to be synced properly. I do NOT want my phone to sync my FB contacts into my phone, as I have close to 1k friends and don't want all their numbers in my phone. However, I would like for my contacts to be "linked" to their FB accounts if at all possible. On my current BB Curve 8330, the FB app will "link" the contacts with their FB counterparts, but it doesn't change any numbers or add any new numbers.
Is this possible with the way Inc is set up?-Strygun

So what is the best solution to avoid this?
Sync with Gmail contacts first, then disable sync, then sign on to Facebook? - 04-29-2010, 12:34 AM #12
just adjust the "view" options
If you don't want to see all of your facebook contacts, just go into "people" and in the "all" contacts slide (first one on bottom left of screen) and click on menu ->view and uncheck the facebook contacts.
The facebook contacts will still be visible if you slide the selector on the bottom to the third selection which is "online directories" and select "Facebook".

My Facebook did it to! It never gave me the option not to sync them!! Under people, its ok but when I press my "phone" icon then everyone in my FB who have numbers in their accounts show up. MAJOR inconvenience for me. and pressing menu on my contacts only brings up my keyboard..ugh!!!!! please help!

I want contacts in my phone book that have FB accounts to be synced like my berry does.
Is there a way to do this or no?
I have more FB friends then I do real friends LOL and don't want all in there, just some. - 04-29-2010, 10:15 AM #17
My Incredible sync'd them all automatically, well, anyone FB "friend" that has their phone number in their FB account anyway. This was quite annoying because like you, I have like 300+ FB "friends" but maybe only want about 20 of them in my contact list. There were two lists, one was under "people" which is contacts and then the problem list once you press the actual PHONE button as if to make a call. Thats where ALL the random people sneaked into my phone. There is a Facebook Sync thread explaining a couple ways to rectify this.

this doesn't work unless you sync your facebook contacts. When you sync your facebook contacts you can choose to view only google ones in your contacts. The problem is when you go to send an email frmo your yahoo account it has every single facebook email in there mixed with your contacts and there is no way to change it.
I do not want to sync my facebook contacts but want to be able to link my current contacts with their facebook accounts...possible? - 04-30-2010, 02:34 PM #20
i dont think you can do it then...you have to sync the FB contacts to the phone first. Sorry
