anyone else frustrated with audio/video sync issues?

Don't understand it.

My shiny new Droid Incredible seems to be a pretty crappy video player.

I've encoded files in H.264 at 720X480, with bitrate from 900 to 1500 kbps. Audio/video sync issues are pretty obvious on most files. This is true with the built in player, and even in the Act 1 video player.

Sometimes the issue can be corrected by pausing, fast forwarding, etc. but not usually, and if this does work, sync issues will slowly come back.

I don't think it is a hardware issue (video is smooth although out of sync, plus geez just look at the specs). Also, it certinaly is not just files I've encoded myself.

In fact, some of the worst performing files I've come across so far are published by Techzilla (one of the default links in Dogcatcher).

These files are H.264, 320X180, at 423kbps, and audio and video can be nearly a second out of sync!! What's going on? Are others having this issue? I'm finding it really frustrating.

Audio in all cases I've tried is 2ch stereo at 44KHz, using ~128kps.

Thanks for any input.

J...

ps - My trusty storm 1 (yes, I acutally liked it after OS 5) did a fine job playing H.264, 480X360, at 1500 kpbs.

Try using Handbrake to convert your files, and use the following settings:

MP4 FORMAT
video size: 848x480
video bit rate: 1500
audio bit rate: 192
sample rate: 48000

This worked well for me on the Motorola Droid, but I haven't tried it with the Incredible yet.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue with audio/video sync on the Incredible. Having it with anything involving a video, even youtube.... hopefully there's a fix.

I wasn't liking what I saw with an mp4 encoded movie player and found "Act 1 Video Player" on the market. There is a free version that did a really great job.
