Is this how vibrate is supposed to work?

My phone is currently set to vibrate (i've never tried the vibrate feature on the phone... either the ringer will be ON or SILENT)

so it's on vibrate right now and i made sure gmail, mail, messages had "vibrate on" box checked

but i just tried to email my phone from my computer.. phone didnt vibrate?

does this have to do with the bug.. in which I have to download that Sound Manager app or whatever and set things on vibrate, then delete the app? or is this how it is supposed to be.. when ringer is on vibrate.. everything is silent and ringer vibrates only?

sorry. can't delete this. i searched. turns out it's a bug. downloaded Sound Manager.. changed vibration settings. works like a charm now!

when i put my phone to vibrate (hold down power button and then click vibrate) all my notifications vibrate as well.
