Send mail from my POP email account within gmail app?

So I have my gmail account synced on my incredible. i also have my work account coming to my gmail account through POP. I set my gmail so that whichever email address the person emailed me to, when i reply, it will reply from that email account. When i receive a work email on my phone and reply or forward it, it works great and sends it as if it is sent from my work email account. the problem is that when i compose a NEW email, i don't have that option of choosing like i do on my laptop. has anyone figured out a way to get around this? the only thing i can think of is to setup my work email in the MAIL app, set it to NOT refresh at all since it is coming coming to my gmail account. this way i can COMPOSE a NEW email from my work email account. only thing that sucks about this is that the sent copy doesn't appear on my gmail account.
