Default how to rollback gingerbread 2.3.4 on dinc

sorry, I realize I'm behind the times but I want to try a new ics rom. I tried using unrevoked 3 to roll back to froyo to root and go forward but can't find 3.22 version and I get failure, "is firmware too new"? message with 3.3. I spent hours following the guide listed on this forum and am frustrated and don't know what to do. I AM a root/ ROM noob but have an understanding of what to do as well if that makes sense. I want to try something like AOKP Milestone 5. I am truly sorry if this if the millionth time this has been asked.

To use Unrevoked you need to roll back to Froyo. Then you can root and get S-OFF as well.

The packages for Froyo are here:

Directions for flashing a PB31IMG file and how to do an MD5 checksum are here:

If you're not comfortable using the PB31IMG on the phone you can use a PC and the RUU. It's a Windows exe file and it will flash your phone via USB. Follow the in-app directions to the letter.

Once you roll back then you can flash the latest Clockwork recovery here:

Don't forget to backup your data before doing any of this. Rolling back to Froyo will wipe your phone.

Let us know if you have any problems. Happy flashing!

I will give this a shot first thing tomorrow. thanks for the response. again I can tell by some of the forums its a redundant kind of question and I apologize for that. I probably have not searched properly for my kind of question but I'm new here. I've been reluctant to mod my phone because I didn't want to brick it. but its time to lose the training wheels! thank you for the reply.

also, does it matter if I grab the newest version of htc sync as I currently don't have it on my pc as you indicate I should in your easy to understand guide?

Any version of HTC Sync will work for the drivers. The Sync program itself is so so - it;s the drivers you want.

    The different versions are here:

thanks for the replies Stig. I'm getting bootloader error 140, indicating wrong ROM Utility. I tried first the Froyo Rom, then the others. thankfully it did not harm anything just left me with my current G. Bread. version 4.08.605.2, build # 4.08.605.2 CL185897 release keys. what do I do from here? NMB.

Which method did you try to roll back?
