Software Unstability?

My system has been acting weird lately... besides getting the com.htc.bg everyday (i've heard this has to do with facebook syncing), this morning i woke up and home wallpaper was changed. So i changed it back, went to work, and then it changed back again! is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Edit: before i get flamed.. I meant "Instability".......

Have you downloaded any new app's? Do you use ATK? I'm thinking your having a problem with an app or a launcher that's where I would start if the problem doesn't go away.

Hmm i'm an android newb so i'm not sure what ATK is. the latest app i have DL'ed is MyVerizon.

Since i last posted, the home screen changed again... weird.

ATK is advanced task killer which is known to cause some problems with phones. Have you tried to restart your phone and what wallpaper are you using that keeps switching and what wp is it switching to?

by "restart" do you mean a battery pull? or simple On-Off?

I am using a basic HTC wall paper with the map in the back ground.. but the phone keeps changing back to the rainbow colored one with the bubbles

Pulling the battery and just turning the device off is the same.

You can try going to settings- applications- manage applications- HTC sense then clear cache and defaults.

Mine did this a month ago and I can't remember what I had to do to fix it.

When the phone changes to the bubble background for me, it usually means something's gone wrong with the wallpaper it was on; usually the app that was downloading a new wallpaper crashed, or something like that. So it could be a problem with the wallpaper.

The only times I ever had my phone do that is when I was messing with ROMs and the ROM I was trying Force Closed the sense interface or some mission critical app like the contacts list etc. Are you using any different apps that control any launchers, dialers, phone books, calendars etc?

nope... my phone is pretty stock. i dont have any roms and all the apps i have are pretty widely used (myvz, imdb, astro... etc).

mclarry - after i on-off'ed the phone, it sems pretty stable beside the occasional com.htc.bg error. anyone know how to get rid of that?

No not saying you did, what I'm saying is the only time my phone has done it is when I was messing with those mission critical apps. And when they FC'ed or crashed on me in the background I would get the error you are getting lol.

Also check out this thread on XDA about that error.

Came out to be the naming conventions or amount of friends on facebook.

What is the com.htc.bg error? Never heard of it.

It's not a "com.htc.bg" error it's actually just a force close. Obviously your phone doesn't suffer from the same issues he is having. That is the facebook sync app or has something to do with it anyways, crashing. Which it turn for whatever reason causing his Sense UI to force close on him too. Weird stuff.
