How to Keep screen off while on a call?
So I have the Incredible and I bought a verizon case for it. Some reason, the screen likes to come on a lot while I am on a call. I noticed other people saying it stays off until you pull it away from your head. But mine likes to come on randomly. And I end calls all the time cause of my cheeck.
Is there an app or setting to keep the screen off regardless until I push the power button up top while I am on a call? Or until the person hangs up with me? - 09-16-2010, 10:54 AM #2
There is a light and proximity sensor that keep the screen off until you pull the phone away from your face, and auto adjust for lighting conditions. Sounds like you may have a busted phone, or you are using speaker phone if that is happening.

gotcha. so i need to go back to verizon and get a new phone huh?
do you know of any app that will keep the screen off for me?
i always thought the level sensor or whatever that is built into the phone, the one that detects if the phone is rotated or not, i always thought that was the sensor that would tell the phone that it is moved away from my face. interesting. - 09-16-2010, 11:11 AM #4
Do you have a transparent head?

No app that I am aware of...
The phone is designed to use the light sensor when on calls....
When placing the phone to you head, the sensor cuts off the screen... when the phone is moved away from you head and is exposed to light, it triggers the screen to come on....
Either you have a very dirty phone (sensor is to the left of the Verizon logo) or you have a defective sensor and should get the phone replaced unless you can live with the defect.

Almost correct. You actually have two sensors there if you look closely. One is a light sensor the other is a proximity sensor. The proximity sensor controls the screen off while on a call etc. The light sensor controls the auto dim feature of the screen controls.
Funny enough, my wife, has the same exact issue. And I don't have a problem using it either lol.The Storm has cleared to an Incredible day! I ate an IceCream Sandwhich.
