Default "Low on space. Application data space is low." notification.

I've been getting this almost constantly over the past couple of days. I'll go in and delete something to clear it but then it comes back up a little while later. I've tried all of the fixes that I've found via google and nothing makes it go away.

I think it's probably something to do with my contacts storage file... its up to about 94 MB, which seems pretty high to me. Can anyone let me know if this is high?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

This was the same error message I got, took it to the Verizon store and they deleted some apps and it still didnt disappear. SO we factory reset the phone and then it would not pickup a 3g signal so I had to have a new phone shipped to me. Guy at verizon said he had a few others phones with the same problem.

It's too high !! You should've to delete contacts storage data from Setting/app /contacts storage be aware this going to delete all your contacts , but however you can sync again because are saved in Google online. Another know issue causing low space in the incredible is HTC mail * don't use it instead use Gmail . Remove mail account . Hope this help it fix my low space issue long time ago

i was able to get rid of the message by clearing the data in individual apps. i started by moving apps over to the SD card and moved everything i could. then i went in and cleared the cache from dolphin, but the warning message was still there. so i just went in and started clearing the data from individual apps and the error message disappeared once i cleared the facebook data.

I ended up deleting the data within the contacts storage file...must have had some type of memory leak there. It had balooned up to 95 MB...it should be about 2.5 MB. Not sure what caused that in the first place, but the phone has been fine since. It synced my contacts from gmail again almost immediately and the size has been holding steady at 2.45 MB since.

For what it's worth, I started getting that after installing "ConnectIn", an app that syncs LinkedIn contacts into your Contacts. Stay away from this app. It ended up duplicating some of my contacts and unlinking stuff. I ended up reloading my contacts from a previous backup.

Ive had this promblem the last few days! It was so annoying. It is indeed caused by a memory leak in applications, you just have to identify which one it is! For me, it was the HTC mail application. When i reset it, my phone went back to normal. Instantly. hope this helps.

I had to factory reset mine, Verizon store told me with the Froyo updates some of the apps may have caused a problem making this alert come up even though I had plenty of space. sorry if you have to do that, I know its kind of a pain. Good luck!

Google Reader cache was my culprit. The error message should be a bit clearer because it can lead you to think that you have too many apps and must delete some . And the people at Verizon really should know about this problem and how to fix it.

What happens if you delete the contact date? Do you lost all of your contacts in your phonebook?

I had this message for two days and couldn't do anything. I uninstalled a lot of apps and it would go away for a few min but then return. The thing that finally made it go away and stay away was clearing my Facebook data. Hasn't been back since. It's been about three weeks now and i have more apps than ever before....

What does deleting the Facebook data even do?

I deleted it once before and I don't think I eve noticed anything different (other than the low space notification going away).

I had this same problem last week. Apps were already on sd card and I have never used HTC mail. I deleted my sms/mms texts and it seems to have worked for now.

Just curious, did anyone ever figure out an exact reason for this, or is it just random different apps? I keep clearing just about everything and keep getting it back. Tempted to do a factory reset, but don't really want to..

I get it if I install Adobe Air or AndroZip. When I uninstall then it goes away in a matter of seconds.

I've had the same problem on/off now for 3 weeks. freaked me out as I had installed Tango app and TiKl app. So 1st time I uninstalled tango and its stayed gone for awhile.. 2nd time my contacts were ballooned up to 64.7MB and I deleted it and resync'd with Google. Just today I deleted Facebook data.. and just had to resign in.. so....... I believe different apps on different phones or perhaps different ROMS... but what do I know......

I've been struggling with the "Low on space" warning for the past few weeks, too. When it occurs, Gmail no longer syncs and Marketplace installs/updates hang. Rebooting temporarily clears the warning and automatically installs the Marketplace updates that were hanging. But then the warning and the issues described above inevitably re-appear.

According to Menu > Settings > SD & phone storage, I have *plenty* of free space:
    Internal phone storage
    Total space: 6.46GB
    Available space: 6.23GB (96%)

    Phone memory
    Total space: 748MB
    Available space: 449MB (59%)

    SD Card
    Total space: 14.83GB
    Available space: 12.88GB (86%)

I followed the suggestions in (moving all cooperative apps to the SD card, clearing the cache for apps, verifying that none of the apps are taking up large amounts of data, and uninstalling unused apps), but it hasn't helped.

Does anyone truly know what is causing this? Is it a matter of not enough "phone memory"? I have 59% free! Or is this perhaps being caused by some other vague threshold being reached?

    Very frustrating!

Cleared data in Facebook app (not Facebook for HTC Sense), and then froze the Facebook app with Titanium Backup PRO.

    Issue has never returned.

    Rooted user, BTW.

    Unhappy Exactly!

I'm having the EXACT same problem! There is plenty of available space for both storages as well as memory, the mail is no longer synch-ing and the app updates are hanging.
Haven't been able to read the proper solution for this. Anybody?
