Does root have anything to do with whether you have the new market or not? I am rooted and I also do not have the new version of the Android Market..

I think you need to manually update it cause my friend has it but I know its out because I've heard lots of complaints about the 15 min money back instead of the nice 24 hours we had to try them out without the fear of a phone call ruining your trial period.

Use root explorer or titanium backup ... but if you flash it in recovery it should add it no need to delete... if that doesn't work then delete and flash it

I am Rooted and had the old market. Just installed Redemption Rom to try it out and while I was downloading titanium so I could restore my apps, the market changed on me. Veeerrrrryyyyyy trippy. Not sure if I like it yet. I'm curious now that if I restore my backup, will the old market be there or the new market?

Well I checked the market about 30 minutes ago and still had the old version. Just opened it up again to download an app and BAM! New version is there... Not too shabby looking either

I'm not rooted. I went to the Market do update to the newest Google Maps version (I had the stock version and needed to "install" it again). However, I decided to quit the Android Market for some reason. Also, to note, it was the old version at this time.
Then, after 30-45 minutes, I opened the market again and it was the new one! It was a bit slow at first but I quit and opened it again, and it worked fine.
So...maybe for all you non-rooted users, just open the market once, close it, and see if it is updated after a few minutes or so (I didn't get any notifications or anything). - 12-17-2010, 02:42 PM #23
