I have never used a Mac so I might be wrong but do you have the correct drivers installed on your Mac?

Could be it's the silly VZW VCast CDROM software.
Try this to disable the CDROM drive emeulator on the phone.

Hit Call
Type Password is 000000
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)
Back out to home
