HTC Incredible on VZ
HTC Incredible on VZ, cant wait. I want to be able to walk into the store and handle a phone before buying it. Nexus looks great but no test drive, no buy.

anyone know if this will be dual mode?

You know? I have to agree with you! Thus far Nexus One's major flaw for me is the lack of customer support. Last month I took my xv6900 into the VZW corporate store as I had gotten it wet. It was no longer under contract, so they replaced it for me for a mere 50 bucks. Truth be told: VZW customer service rocks. I, too, want to be able to handle a phone before I purchase it. So, if it means I have to lose 250 mbs of ram? I'll do it. (Hopefully, they upgraded that figure since the leaked video).

For what it is worth, I wouldn't be surprised if soon we could save and load apps from the sd card. Windows 7 series is doing it. Aren't we supposed to be open and free.

I am in utter indecision. Droid? Incredible? Nexus one? Today N1 CDMA passed through the FCC. It is so good to finally have choices with Verizon. I'm leaning toward the Incredible, as it will have VZW support, where as the N1 will have the support of everybody (google, htc, etc.) but really have the support of no one.

The lack of memory on the Incredible is worring me. Coming from a WinMob Omnia I know what that can do to the usefullness of a phone. Not to mention that ugly red cover.
But the lack of immediate support for the N1 would also bother me.
I really want to move to an android phone but it is hard trying to pick the right one. Someone should make a post called "So you want to move up to Android" for us newbies.

The best way to get these answers would be by simply going to said forum, and then making a thread asking questions.
Ontopic:
The N1 should be coming pretty soon according to what they said, as for the incredible, it actually looks pretty damn cool.
Might stick with my Droid though. I'm enjoying the ROMs too much and especially with that SenseUI coming...

After doing some research I'm leaning towards the Incredible, but the low amount of RAM (256) is worrisome.

I think most of us are pretty much in the same boat- buy the Droid or wait for the Incredible (or Nexus).
My New Every 2 is up on April 10th. I went to Verizon today and I can get two Droids (we have the family plan) in april for $100 total after the discount. Assuming the new phones are not going to be BOGO I would probably have to shell out $300-$400 more for those. I'm trying to figure out if the new phones are worth the extra few hundred, especially with the loss of a physical keyboard (I'm coming from a BB Curve).Last edited by Amyshubby; 03-15-2010 at 01:11 PM.

My decision between the N1 and Incredible will be made by one key factor. Trackball. After having a bb tour for 6 months, I will NEVER consider a phone that has a trackball. Memory and processor be damned, if it has a trackball I don't want it. Period.

Yup, trackballs are soooooo last week.

Gizmodo is saying that the Incredible might be released in 2 weeks.

I pulled the below specs off of another forum and I am now very confused. The list shows 'ROM - 6.6-6.8 GB writable phone storage'. Can this be true when the specs on the N1 have the ROM at 512?
Confirmed:
1 Ghz Snapdragon processor (QSD8650) (245 Mhz at idle)
RAM - 512 MB (320 usable...like N1...more to become available with OS update)
ROM - 6.6-6.8 GB writable phone storage
8 MP camera (Dual flash and AF)
Android 2.1
Sense UI (w/ Friendstream)
Optical track pad (vs. "ball")
3.7 inch screen
WVGA resolution
AMOLED
1300 MaH battery
FM Tuner
802.11 b/g
Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
No 720p recording
No multitouch BUG as found in N1
Unconfirmed:
8GB MicroSDHC card
RAM - Possibly 1 gig...further confirmation needed
Noise canceling dual mic? (like on Nexus One)
Release date: March, 27th, 2010
Now to add to my confusion even more the below specs are from AndroidandMe
Rumored specs of the HTC Incredible include:
768 MHz 1 GHz Snapdragon processor QSD8650
3.7 inch AMOLED screen WVGA resolution
6 GB ROM, 1 GB RAM
8 MP camera with dual LED flash and AF
Android 2.1 with Sense UI
Optical track pad
1300 mAh battery
Shipping with 8GB MicroSDHC card
FM Tuner
Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
Could it be that the N1 is meant to really be a 'developer phone' and not necessarily marketed at the general public? Maybe the N1 is on every major network, but you can't buy it in their stores, and gets all updates first so that those developers have time to program for the newest OS and the rest of the phones, such as the Incredible, Droid, SuperSonic, etc, are the high-end phones for the general public. Google gave away thousands of N1s' to developers and sold many thousands online to true phone geeks (no dis-respect intended at all) that couldn't wait to see what else is in the pipe. Maybe the N1 gets the release first, the true phone geeks stress test it for them without really knowing that is what they are doing, then the rest of us get the end result? Could it be that the Incredible may actually have better specs than the N1? I guess what I am suggesting here is a conspircy by Google with a long range plan that would give them the very best product available for some time to come. Please let me know if I am thinking straight on this or just very confused and way off base.Last edited by Brian38501; 03-18-2010 at 02:47 PM. Reason: Different Specs from AndroidandMe article
