Will it work correctly with only a root?

It appears from the many comments listed here that rooting a stock Fascinate will cause the data and wifi to stop working. Is there a way to root the phone and have it still work correctly? I don't want to install roms, etc. I just want to get rid of some of the useless junk. Thanks.

I have not heard of anything like that ever happening. Root the fascinate and you can get rid of bloatware yes. Its simple.

rooting the stock fascinate running froyo shouldnt bother anything ... i think the problems didnt show up untill gingerbread

I lost Wi-Fi and Mobile data when I rooted my stock Fascinate. See my thread where I detailed my entire experience. Look at post #10.

From what I read, however, you can get it back with a call to *228 or something. I didn't bother cause I was installing a new ROM, which BTW I LOVE!!!
