Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
This was done by jt1134 over on rootzwiki
I have worked with jt and he does great work and this build is no different. I installed this on my brothers and my girlfriends fascinate and they have no problems with day to day use. I just wanted to provide an easy method for those of you who aren't completely tech savy and want something to do until you get your Nexus
Step 1.
Install Samsung Drivers
Download
Step 2.
Turn your phone to download mode
Take out the battery then put the battery back in
Hold Volume Down and then Plug in the USB into the phone
Open Odin:
Click PIT: and browse to the PIT file you downloaded earlier
Click PDA: and browse to the Stock EH03 file you downloaded earlier
Click Re partition on the left side of the screen
Click Start!
After its done it will restart and you will now have a completely stock phone.
Let it boot up and then put it into usb mode and drag the jts ics onto the sdcard
Step 3.
Put it back into download mode
Open Odin:
Unclick Re partition if it stayed for some reason.
Unclick Auto Reboot
Click PDA: and browse to the CWR file
Click Start!
This is installing clockwork mod recovery by koush
Step 4:
Unplug the phone and hold both volume buttons and the power button to boot into recovery.
Once in recovery select Install zip from sd card
Browse to this file: teamhacksung_fascinatemtd-ota-eng.jt1134-1128.zip
hit the power button to select the file and then scroll down to accept
This should install on the first time but I noticed if your sd card is kinda ty like my brothers it will not work the first time. I had to insert a new sd card with the file on it
After it boots up you will have to login to google like normal and thats about it
Good luck have fun and remember to donate to devs like jt who help make this old phone great.
ps I wrote this from memory it may or may not be 100% accurate please hit me up on G+ or on here if you run into a problem or if you see a mistake.Google Plus+

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
ya i have the latest build, i still cant use my 32gb cause it constantly unmounts and now i cant use my stock 16gb card, back to the dinky 8gb.
Note: this build does not eat SD cards it just wont recognize them. they work just fine in any phone or computer - 12-08-2011, 09:24 AM #8

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
Been using it for 1 week. So far everything I have tried works. Only annoying thing is a new Google App permissions thing.. very much like Vista / 7 UAC. I don't completely mind it, its just hard to access sometimes after you install an app and it wants to sign into your google account. Note i've only had this happen when trying to install Google apps [maps, g+, etc...]. Another issue I have had with this is initial LOUD volume on phone calls [i've had this with all MTD roms so far]. Also after about 70hrs of use, the phone just completely shut off on me in the middle of the night... so missed my morning alarm. Had to 3 finger solute to get it booted up again. But for such a quick release/build from source, I am really impressed with this rom. Love ICS and can't wait for a few more polishing updates.
Just thought I would add in I have been running the v3 release. Started on stock EH03, then super clean for about a day, then flashed ICS v3.Last edited by mentatgom; 12-08-2011 at 03:23 PM.

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
So what do you think? I've been on it a week, reverted to Froyo ED05 stock & straight to ICS v3 11/28. Did you go from EH09 and if so any luck with MMS? No go for mine with stock Messaging or GO SMS Pro. Seems taboo to mention on Rootzki

From JT's OP there "What works:
Radio (Calls / 3G / SMS/MMS)
WiFi"
Maybe that was v1? I'd start over with EH09 to v3 if you say it might work.
I've had a few SOD's too but volume^ + power gets reboot, no battery pull required. Other than that and no MMS it's very good here on my year old Fassy. No SD card probs either. And no more toggling WiFi / AP mode after reboots.Last edited by dzdroider; 12-09-2011 at 03:05 AM.

Installed this morning, so far so good. I've noticed that the swype keyboard is gone though. Is there a way to get it back?

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
I burned the stock EH03 first and then ICS as suggested. However, I can't install anything in Market. The app is functional in terms of browsing around and searching, so it does have internet connectivity. But when I try to install any app, I get "App xxxx for Andorid could not be downloaded due to an error". I uninstalled the version that came with ICS and installed ver3.1.3, but that has the same exact problem. Any clues on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
I am running the 1209-merge Rom and it also broke the wifi tether. When I was on V3 I could use Barnicle without any problems, but it seems to be broken now. I also tried to install the CMsettings.apk, but can't figure out how to change the permissons. Does anyone know how to do this?

Re: Ics 4.0.1 alpha (aosp)
Sorry guess i shoulda read the post a bit better. You wanted to know HOW TO not WHAT TO.
For anyone else... to change permissions go to system/app folder with root explorer, mount r/w, long press on the desired app and options will pop up. select permissions and do your thingThanked by: - 12-14-2011, 09:39 PM #25
