What do I keep, what do I lose?

My primary question is do I still keep basic things like my service and phone number/texting/etc? The services that are received by paying Verizon.

I'm deciding to install 2.3 the long way because my phone will not update ota (out of memory/ ip fail) but am also considering using one of the many other roms available.

Surprisingly I don't see this question answered or ask and I don't want to assume.

First of all, I am assuming you are talking about rooting your device.

You will not notice anything.

Secondly, I will assume you are flashing a custom rom.

You might lose some applications that you had before but usually the dev would have patch files to add the missing Verizon apps back in. If the dev does not have them you may be able to get them from a different thread.
