You don't use Odin to flash clockwork recovery.

Odin's for a fresh reset to take away clockwork and root

I'm not sure why it's hanging like that. You can make a backup once clockwork finishes, but that doesn't really help you

The only thing I can think is you having a different carrier. Perhaps there is a different CWM .tar you need

When I first attempted to use Odin to install CWM it failed. The failure was corrected for me by taking my unpowered USB hub out and connecting the phone directly to the USB port on my computer.

I used Z4 root to root and installed rom manager from the Market, then flashed CWM. However, the Fascinate will only boot into stock recovery.

That's because rom manager doesn't actually flash cwm. You have to do that using odin

*This method only works on verizon fascinate.....not other variants(also doesn't work on mac or linux users)
    1. Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on your pc
    2. Download odin from here to your pc
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin%...in3%20v1.3.exe
    3. Download clockwork package to your pc
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/CWMrecovery.tar
*create a folder and put those two files together on pc
    4. go to setting-> application-> development-> USB debugging
    5. on your phone
Turn phone off-> pull the battery out completely-> plug usb to your phone
-> press volume down until you see a triangle screen comes up
    6. on your pc
open odin(make sure it shows yellow bar on the port; this means your phone has detected)-> click PDA and select CWMrecovery.tar-> click start
    * your phone will reboot upon completion.
    7. Using clockwork, back up your files immediately.
download rom manager-> select flash clockwork mod-> click on fascinate-> when scanning has done, click backup current ROM
*your phone will reboot and start backing up your file. Do not turn it off....your phone will reboot upon completion.
    Ytaay and vwinn like this.

Trying to flash JT as well. Your odin link doesn't seem to be working. Can you repost a new host link?

"invalid image type" is nothing to worry about as long as odin says "passed". Tell me where you're at right now.

When I click start after ignoring Invalid Image Type it says "Check Image Files". The message says "Download start..." How long should this process take?

It took me around 5minutes. do not disconnect until complete....or you'll brick your phone.

I don't remember Odin ever saying "Passed" so I'm not sure if the process is even running. If I had to start over how would I do so (say if nothing changes after 10 minutes)?

Did you change your USB setting to debug mode before you started? what is your screen saying right now? if odin doesn't say passed than, you might have to restart everything.

Yes, debugging is enabled. My screen has a yellow triangle with "Downloading..." and under that "Do not turn of Target!!!". But that's what it looked like before I tried to flash CWM via Odin so I don't think anything's happening. I think my problem is I used Rom Manager to attempt to flash CWM as that's how I did it on my Droid.
