Do not do the optional root since you will be loading up froyo anyway and it will be rooted.

After following the video for froyo Clockwork you must flash
the NEW CWM file, the same way i flashed the kernel and su+busy box ,shown in the video
taken from XDA forums Syn Ack provided

3) Once in Recovery, choose "Install zip from sdcard" > "Choose zip from sdcard" > Then locate your "new_cwm.zip" file you downloaded earlier. Choose it and hit YES.

4) Next, go back to the main menu and choose "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", do this twice for good measure. Then choose "Wipe Cache Partition", do it twice for good measure, it doesn't hurt anything.

5) FINALLY, choose "Install zip from sdcard" > "Choose zip from sdcard" > Then locate your "DL30.zip" file that you downloaded earlier. Choose it and then hit YES. Once complete, takes less than a couple minutes usually, YOU ARE DONE!!!!
