I keep getting a daemon not running error.

It'll say that daemon started successfully and then give me a "daemon still not runningerror" (to quote the command prompt)

It would be a great asset if the posts showed their numbers. They are referred to as post #5 or whatever, but post #5 is not labeled as such. So how to find it? Go back to the beginning and count? Or read the description of the different posts and then read them until you find the appropriate content?
I have spent quite a while looking for post #12. I have learned a lot but I think by the time I get to #12 I may be too tired to absorb it!! In addition to labeling the posts, being able to search for the with the search engine would be even faster and nicer.
And speaking of nicer, I do want to thank all who have worked so hard to put things into order here. The labeling of the posts would be iciing on the cake.

If this is a duplicate, please forgive. I went away from a message in progress and when I came back, it was gone (surprisE!)

HELP: How do I find a particular post from given in the index of this? I am looking for posts 9 and 11-12 and I have searched every page from 1 to the end to them but without success. Can anybody tell me some page numbers? Or whatever works?
Maybe the head honchos on here could indicate what post they are in when they make a response to a question or are starting the next of the main posts listed in the index. It would be great if the index indexed the the beginnings of post numbers 1 - 14. That is kind of the meaning of the word imho. Maybe page numbers are not possible. Maybe not if they change with added material(?). But if they change, could there still be some other kind of labels or "key words" that could be searched for? Like "Begin_post_x", where x is a post number, or some such?
Hate to be a bother but I am really frustrated after spending hours looking for the indicated posts and reading until I was too tired to go further. I found great gobs of good info. but not what I was looking for.
So can somebody tell me how to get to posts #'s 9, 11 and 12?
    Thanx guys!

Hey guys, first time poster, rooter, guy-who-wants-to-play-hacker-with-phone here. I noticed all of these people have about the same question as I do, and I don't see the answer for them. Could someone please tell me the answers to the following two questions:

    1) Do I download the 32-bit or the 64-bit for my Galaxy S Fascinate (from like 2 or more years ago)?

    2) What would be a revised link to receive one of these downloads?

First step, i.e., download 32 bit drivers, fails. Clicking on the button takes me to an AT&T connect page. Also clicked on 64-bit drivers, but that takes me to wikifilez.com

    What am I missing?

Rooting as any other hacking is done at your own risk, I nor Android Central are
responsible for anything that users do to their phone. That being said, Have fun

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAQ

    Q: What is Root?

A: Root, is super user access of your phones operating system. Think of your phone as a desktop computer. Right now you are logged on as a guest account. you can browse things and use applications but if you really want to change anything in your system you can't. What gaining root does is it gives you superuser permission to alter files that you could not before; again thinking of it as a computer you now have an Administrator account.

Q: Does rooting void my warranty?

A: Yes and no. If you walk into verizon with a phone that has Root access and they actually check it they have the right to say this phone was tampered with. But for those of you in the know (Thats now you ). There is a tool called Odin that will get you back to stock as if it is out of the box. As always you root at your own risk, but thanks to Odin that risk is greatly reduced.

Q: Does rooting slow down my phone or drain battery.

A: NO, root is not an application or a running process, gaining root does not do anything but give you permissions that you normally would not have. Basically all you did during the rooting process was move files around. Its what you do with this new found permission that changes things. But as far as just rooting it does not make a difference.

Q: Will i lose any apps or data during the rooting process?

A: No, for the same reason as above. Rooting is basically just moving some files around. Of course there is always a risk of something happening in any process. I would say chances are of causing serious problems is slim to non. Its what you do with this new found permission that changes things. But as far as just rooting it does not make a difference.

Q: I lost root during an update, am i doomed?

A: No, what happend was the file containing your super user access was over written. Just re-attempt gaining root and you will be fine.

Help! I have a Samsung Fascinate that was with Verizon. I brought the phone to Straight Talk and has been working great, but I hate the old stock OS. So I rooted and flashed to Jelly Bean.
Was a smooth transition. But I noticed that when I text someone they get a blank text, and no one can text me. I tried a number of different JB roms, all with the same problem. If I flash back to stock it works great. Any ideas?
