Okay guys so SWM is great and simple, but im not always at my computer when i decide i want an app, my friend said he uses a different method on his captivate using terminal emulator, i believe it is this:

su cd /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings
sqlite3 settings.db
update secure set value = "1" where name = "install_non_market_apps";
.quit

Verizon did not disable the installation of non-Market apps like AT&T did. Just go to Settings>Applications>Unknown sources (tick the box). Then install anything you want.
