Welcome to Android Central! I'm going to move your thread to the Fascinate section - you should be able to get the help you're looking for there. You can also check out that section for existing rooting how-to threads. Good luck.

With Post #4= ADB rooting (works with froyo), does "rage.bin" remain on the phone? If it does, should it be removed after successfully obtaining root?

And is this exploiting a flaw in the phone, or is this exploiting a flaw in ADB?

I'm surprised there are no copies of ADB floating around that would provide root access to your phone right off the bat...

Rage.bin stays on there. And with all the improvements in software, etc., why make things more difficult than they have to be? Follow post #5, use Adrynalyne's su + busybox zip file, flash it in CWM, done. Easy peasy. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

What exactly are you trying to do? I don't know if the one-click methods work anymore and really if you are looking to root, then flashing a custom Rom (even just a stock bloated Rom) is the way to go. Read through this:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...irst-time-rooting-walk-through-4-28-11-a.html

I'm willing to walk you through if you can give specifics on where you want to be when done.

Thanks Jmac9, I was able to root my Fascinate with directions I found on another post flashing Odin. My end game would be the wireless wifi tether (hopefully for my Samsung 10.1 tab), faster processing and an upgrade from 2.2.2 Froyo (maybe Gingerbread) also kill Bing, what is my next move, thanks

Jmc....great and welcome to AC by the way. Its a great community and you won't find better support. First thing would be to get Barnacle from the Market for your tethering needs. great app. As for getting rid of Bing , your best bet is to go to Post # 4 here:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...s-roms-kernels-boot-animations-8-30-11-a.html

I've been on MIUI for some time now so I'm not sure what 2.2 Roms are currently being developed with good support. if you're still getting your feet wet with Root, i would stick with trying a custom 2.2 Rom first before heading into a 2.3 GB or MIUI ROM. You can get into bugs that are tricky if you aren't comfortable with CWM and ODIN yet.

then as you get more comfortable and read, read, read......you can start flashing different kernels and Roms to get more and more out of your phone.

Got it, currently flashed evil fascination v3.6.0 and I really dig it. I don't see it as a evil/goth UI but very clean and well thought out. Barnacle is great for my lap top but Samsung Galaxy 10.1 32G wifi does not find the broadcast, any ideas?
