Default unable to update from DH12.

First off, throw me to the wolves if you can find a thread with instructions on this. I have been unsuccessful so far. I am currently stuck on DH12. Doing a system update from the phone always fails. previous IP update failed or something like that. Did the factory data reset, still no update. talked to Verizon and they said sucks to be you. My main problem is that I am on a MAC OSX 10.6.3 and most help threads are windows specific. I need to find a way to push all the new updates to my phone, hopefully get Froyo, dream that i can get Gingerbread and Root. I am still doing alot of reading on these forums but i am stuck wayyy in the past.

Yeah, the fact that you have a Mac is the issue with most of the updating stuff here. Do you have any access to a Windows system?

Where did you get DH12 from? And what are the benefits of it over the others?

DH12 is the original baseband version before DL01 AND DL09 and froyo that came on the phone when it first was released. There are absolutely no benefits. Apparently there was a bad batch of fascinates unable to do updates. Unfortunately for me this issue is so old (1 year) verizon will no longer help me.

[Guide] Tools and Information for Mac OS X Users - Updated 04/07
People have done it before. Hopefully this link can help. Now that I'm reading all of the directions in that thread, it looks like you might have to have at least DL09 already on your phone. Your best bet would probably be to find a friend with a Windows PC. Then you should be able to use ODIN to flash pretty much anything to your phone. Once you're rooted and on a custom rom, you should be able to do most updates, etc. from your Mac. You'd just need to copy a file to your SD card, then flash through CWM recovery. Hopefully this helps. I hate seeing someone stuck running that awful, original, bloated software.

Google Heimdall. Use it to flash an all-in-one of either strock Froyo, rooted Froyo, or whatever you like.
