Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
Hey Fascinate users... when can we expect to get our Ice Cream Sandwich?
I updated my rom to Gingerbread last week from CommRom and definitely feel the performance is better.
And, here's a question. If we're on Android 2.x now and Ice Cream Sandwich is 4.x, what is 3.x? - 11-15-2011, 03:43 PM #2

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
I do not think Verizon will ever push out ICS to the Fascinate. Maybe we will get GB instead down the the road.

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
Does Netflix work with this ROM and have they fixed the SMS push bug?
Yes. I am one of the thoese/ who regularly watches movies on my Fascinate's. The little screen.

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
I have been running V3 since yesterday and all I can say is WOW. Only thing not working is video recording (which JT said he hasn't gotten working yet). If you understand how to (or can read EASY directions) I suggest putting ICS on right now, it is well worth it!

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
I am running JT's V3 now. Everything I use is working fine. I couldn't load anything from the Android Market until I cleared the data from some of the Google apps a second time. I still don't know how the battery life is yet. That is my main concern at this point.

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
My battery life seems workable so far on V3. I do have one issue I can't figure out.
Does anyone know how to unlink the ringtone and notification volumes on Ice Cream Sandwich? Sound Manager and AudioGuru both change them together. I can't find the option to unlink them in settings that 2.3 had. - 12-02-2011, 11:28 AM #23
Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
My ICS experience after a couple days:
It is what my phone is running. I use it just like I did before, almost everything works. MMS is reported to not work (do not use it). Netflix works, but can be a little laggy at times. Some apps can be buggy, but most of them have started to receive updates to fix them.
Just remeber this is an alpha build, if you want perfect and right now, look elsewhere. - 12-04-2011, 12:49 AM #24
Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
It's very unlikely that this phone will get ICS... after the issues that they had getting the Froyo update deployed I was surprised to see Gingerbread, but I suspect this is the end for this aging handset.
Android is all about Personal Choice: Droid RAZR HD, Droid DNA, SGSIII, SG Note 2, HTC One X+, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus4... Hating is so Apple... we're better than that!

Re: Man, I want an Ice Cream Sandwich
ICS works well with Fascinate.
- Google Maps, Facebook have to be reinstalled, will not work if restored from backup.
- Google Latitude takes a few tries, since it has to ask for permissions.
- GPS works, have not tried directions yet.
- Camera works (picture and panoromic snaps) video does not work.
- Launcher Preference are blank, guessing there will be something there later on.
- gtalk, chaton, google voice, groove ip, skype, work flawlessly
- calendar, email, reader, docs, quickoffice, docs to go all work well.
- netflix works fine too, seems a little faster.
- data usage monitoring 3g or wifi does not work
- wifi works
- wifi hot spot, still have not tested it.
The only annoying thing I found was that, like the tablet OS (gingerbread), this too has 5 screens, which you have no way remove.
With ICS, you can group your applications together, so I use only 1 screen. I do not use any widget other than the power control.

I get "Unfortunately, Calendar Storage has stopped." I'm not seeing an answer in the rootzwiki threads.
