Removing the "permanent" Verizon Bookmarks - Easy Solution
After playing around with the LauncherPro bookmark widget (which I love!), I was getting pretty annoyed having to look at some of those default bookmarks (MSN.. really?).. So you open up browser, do the long-click on the bookmark, scroll down to delete, and bye-bye bookmark!
Except.. Verizon can be a jackass, and set their own bookmarks to permanent. So halfway into working with the browser's sqlite database file, I ran across an easy solution. I wish I had the original link to give credit, but I can't find it anymore. If I do, I'll come back and edit with the original link..
1 - Open up Browser
2 - Go to Bookmarks
3 - Use one of the Verizon bookmarks to load that page. Let the page load.
4 - Go back to bookmarks, click on history tab.
5 - See the yellow star next to the Verizon web page you went to? Touch the yellow star to deselect it.
Stupid VZW bookmark goes bye-bye.

It was my understanding the yellow star indicated there was a bookmark for that page. Perhaps what's in your history is a different page than what you have bookmarked? For example zzz.com/1234 is bookmarked, but the page in your history is zzz.com/5678 ?
If that's not it, then it beats the heck out of me. - 09-12-2010, 12:04 PM #12
Awesome fix. I spent several hours trying to figure that one out on the Droid X, before I finally gave up.

Have you edited your homepage yet? I did that, and the VZW link disappeared. Open browser, hit menu button, select More, select Settings, scroll down to "Set home page"
