Hell yes!
After a few hours trying to uncover the dialing code string for the Fascinate, I finally figured it out!
I've dug into *almost* all the AndroidManifest.xmls to compose a list of hidden menus you can gain access to.

I shouldn't have to say it, but I will..
I'm not responsible if you brick your phone.
Play with these things at your own risk.
Even if I said it's been tested by me and confirmed to work.
It's not my fault if your phone takes a crap on you.
Make a backup of your phone.

I will be doing some more testing and will uncover more hidden menus, but this is what I have for now..

Some members were unable to enter these menus and I discovered that you need to enable 'Hiddenmenu' to do so.
To enable this menu, do this:

Go into the Dialer and enter *#22745927
A box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000
Press the Hiddenmenu Enable radio button.


The dialing code string you have to use is *##

Audio Tuning
*#28346#
Several audio tuning menus.
I've only tested the two items below:

To silence boot and shutdown audio go to Situation/BOOTSOUND and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works.

To silence the volume key audio when turning the volume up/down go to Situation/VOLUMEKEY and turn the values to 0. I've tested and confirmed this works.


Full Bat Popup
*#3844228#
This allows you to disable the full battery pop-up.
I have tested this and it works successfully.


HwCodec
*#0002*28346#
Audio path volume controls. Most importantly, it looks like there's a sidetone adjustment.
I have not tested any of these items yet.


Shutdown
*#7594#
This enables you to shut your phone off by long-pressing the power/lock key.
No more pop-up confirmation.
I have tested this and it works successfully.
I've also discovered by doing this, it will disable the puzzle/glass unlock screen.
Personally, having to push a button and slide the screen is redundant.
I like the one-step process.

Ahh, I can confirm that that did it. You need to clear your dialer screen before entering in the second number (at least I did).

I spent a long time trying to figure this one out.
Seems like an easy task, but it look me awhile..
I did it for one reason- ADJUSTING SIDETONE!

I've done some playing around with it, but can't seem to figure it out.

I enter the HwCodec screen, enable Codec Tuning, change the value of Sidetone, but it never 'sticks'.

What usually happens is I do that, exit the screen, make a call and I get zero audio.
To get the audio going again, I have to reboot.

Then, if I go back into the HwCodec screen, the value I entered went back to 0.

Sooner or later I'll get the right combination or value entered in.

If your enable this, it appears to not only shutdown your phone with a long press of the power key, but it also disables your lock screen (puzzle/glass screen).

Updated above info. Wherever instructed to enter an SPC code, dial 000000. The differs from Sprint customers who have to enter an MSL code, which they typically don't have.

Definitely. I updated my post to replace the requirement to enter an MSL code (Sprint specific) with an SPC code, which is 000000 for Verizon customers.

I didn't appear to, took ~3 minutes to lock just as it did earlier today standing in an entrance way to my building (we're very overcast/rainy today). I'm using GPS Status app.

What should the operation mode be set to? The choices are Standalone/MSassisted/MSbased and my Fascinate was set to MSbased.

Also, is it true that Fascinate doesn't have a radio so those radio codes won't do anything? Sorry if a ridic dumb question.

Some of these codes work across several different models.
Many will not however.
It would be more or less a trial and error thing.

Hey Egghead,

Read this today on Engadget on a post related to issues on the Samsung Epic (sprint's galaxy S phone):

Problem: GPS
Description: The most commonly complained about GPS issues on the Epic 4G seem to center around three things: It's ability to lock onto satellites, even in favorable conditions, constantly reporting accuracy of 30m by satellite at all times no matter what accuracy it should be indicating, and a complete inability to use satellite GPS or provide accurate location information after being on fora few hours. As a result, even with "use network assistance" checked as recommended by the manufacturer, it either gives inaccurate location information that throws off key apps like navigation or is unable to get report its location at all.

Workaround: A reset of the device clears up the issue for a few hours, varying from 4-8 at times depending on conditions. The problem seems to be caused by caching GPS data, so posters from AndroidForums and elsewhere have come up with a workaround to force it to update that information on each request as indicated below. This seems to provide the desired affect of getting a GPS lock without rebooting constantly, but has the downsides of slowing down initial requests and not being able to pull results when outside network range.

Steps:
Enter "*#1472365#" in the dialer (no quotes)
Select Setup>Position Mode>Starting Mode
Change the option from "Hot Start" to "Cold Start"
We've contacted Samsung about this issue, so far they have not acknowledged to us that they've been able to recreate it, and stated that turning on network assisted GPS is a sufficient fix to provide accurate information. Unfortunately in our experience that doesn't do much as described above -- we're eagerly waiting to see how this is dealt with on the Epic as well as the other Galaxy S phones exhibiting GPS issues, any Captivate owners want to chime in on how it's going?
