Just got the phone and am liking it. It is taking a couple of minutes to lock in the GPS, hoping 2.2 takes care of that. The few times I've used it am very impressed with the gps accuracy and google aerial views. Anyone fully replaced their Garmin/Tomtom with the Fascinate? How's it working?

Does the GPS use the normal Sirf satellite tech of the Garmins or does it work via the cell phone signal? Just wondering in case I'm out where there's no cell service.

I did notice a couple of small dots to the left of the earpiece, what are those?

the small dots are light and proximity sensors

the gps uses the satellites to lock on, but map applications are filled with data using the cell network, so you can find yourself (lat/long) but the map won't populate without a data connection.

i've stopped using a standalone gps ever since i got my droid 1
