black screen

Ok sooo I just got the phone on Friday and today the screen went black and is completely unresponsive, buttons or screen wont light up. I rooted the phone on Saturday and everything has been fine. I was just messing with SetCPU and was running a benchmark test and it went black. Pulled the battery, it boots up fine, then when the phone locks and the screen goes black it is unresponsive again? Tried searching but I haven't seen anyone with a solution to this problem other than swap it for a new one.

If I swap this out today at Verizon, will I need to return it to stock first?

Ok well it seems the problem has fixed itself. Originally, I switched the scaling in setCPU to performance to see how it affected the benchmark and then it froze...kept resetting the phone and it kept freezing shortly after. I changed the scaling back to conservative and it seems to have fixed the problem.
