Question Facebook Notification Icon - Session Expired Error

So I stopped using the Android Facebook app because as many of you know, it just plain sucks. I stick to viewing the full site in Dolphin.

Anyway, I had turned all the updates with the app off, and then recently I've been getting the Facebook icon in the taskbar show up. The notification says my session has timed out. I click on it, and it pulls up a black screen with title SNSaccount and then just times out to an error.

I tried deleting the app, which I'm sure did, but the icon still comes back every couple hours.

Anyone else having this issue? Resolution?

    Thanks

You have to remove your Facebook account from your sync. Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Select your Facebook Account > "Remove Account"

This will stop your phone from trying to sync your calendar and contacts with Facebook.

there was some kind of sync problem the other day - it affected a lot of people, me included. it affected both FB and Twitter but it's apparently been fixed because I don't have that issue anymore.

You're a lucky one then because I still have the problem.

It's been happening to me on and off since yesterday. Sometimes it's fine and then other times it's down.

I was just gonna ask you all if you were having the same problem. It's been happening to me on and off for the last couple of days. Happened to me again today. Glad to hear it seems to be a general problem, and not a problem with my individual phone.

I'm having the same problem. It's happening with facebook and myspace too. As one that always likes to keep my notifications cleared, this is driving me nuts.

I've had it pop up a few times in the past. If I just tell it to sync again its fine. Nothing going on recently though.

not fixed. been going on for 3 days now. I have removed FB account and re-added. Go in and tell it to Sync manually and it won't. Says Sync is temporarily down, still.

I believe I stumbled upon the solution. I'm using a Galaxy S with Verizon and I'm using Google calendar. I noticed that it wasn't syncing from my phone to Google, so I went into the settings and deleted the facebook account. I then re-added it and it cleared up (for the past two hours) both the facebook and twitter notifications.

Hope it helps others as it is (was!) really annoying.

So any words of wisdom on how to get duplicate birthdays from showing up in calendar? I changed my user login so now I have the first sync of birthdays and the new login sync of birthdays...and I can't remove either of them.
