Uninstall them. Put your phone into debugging mode and then set USB mode to ask me. In curious if it will then open as a CD drive with the 4 files. If it does double click on the driver file and let it for its thing. Once it's done go back to the notification panel and see if you have the option to mount or not.

I've noticed the same thing on my phone too. Seems to do it only when running either JT or adrynalyne 12/30 kernels. I also noticed that I lose the stock sammy/VZN boot animations when not using the stock dl09 kernel. The Debugging method works but might go back to the stock kernel if i get tired of powering down the phone.

Luckily I often check Android Central to find V Fascinate news, otherwise I would have discovered this bug unprepared.
The quoted solution (from post 69?) seems to be working for me on my XP netbook (still need to try on my 32bit Vista laptop) with a minor variation:
Instead of waiting for the installation request to go away, I started it and then canceled in the middle. after a few seconds I got the option to mount as USB mass storage device through the phone, just like it did pre dl09 update.
The only continuing annoyance is that each time I connect explorer pops up (my DEFAULT browser is firefox so go figure) with an invitation to install vcas crapware...
BTW besides this really annoying bug, dl09 is great, my GPS is locking faster than ever and I can open PDFs straight from my email without saving first to the SD card
now come on Froyo - I need support for hebrew fonts without rooting! - 01-17-2011, 03:09 PM #138

After playing the above "waiting game" with my Mac/Fascinate I finally got my pulldown screen to show the MOUNT option (no pun intended). But the storage device icon never appeared on the desktop??

So far these are my findings:
I should mention first that I am of course rooted and have frozen all VCast apps in Titanium - I don't know if that makes a difference, but thought I'd mention it.
On Windows XP without the Samsung drivers (they have never been installed on this particular pc) when I plugged it in with debugging on, it popped up the new hardware found - search for a device driver on the computer and the usb mounting option showed up in the notification bar of the phone, but of course, without the driver Windows thinks it needs, it wouldn't be able to see my files even if I mounted it. I made the mistake of closing the search for driver window before unplugging my phone and my screen went black, softkeys still lit - frozen....had to do a battery pull.
When I turned off debugging and plugged it back into the XP pc, I then got the Internet Explorer pop up, which I immediatly closed, followed by the prompt to install VZW's crappy software, which I declined and after that auto play started, which I cancelled and then the option to view files on my phone was given to me. Pulled down my notification bar, mounted my sd card and was able to see all files on my phone.
My experience with Windows 7 without the Samsung drivers was a direct mimic of what I've been hearing here already - no reaction from my phone when plugged in with debugging off (no option to mount from the notification bar) and Win 7 quickly told me it could not find the drivers for my device. Plugged it back in with debugging on and got the box offering the bootstrap.exe or whatever that was, but no option in my notification bar to mount the sd card. That's as far as I went with it because it seemed like there were plenty of instances of this already documented.
I guess it's a really good thing that I almost never use usb mounting or I'd be as ticked as many of you are. For now, it still mounts perfectly to my Ubuntu, so I'm a happy girl. - 01-17-2011, 10:25 PM

Might I add, the problem happens...in Linux for me.

So you can forget about it being a driver problem. - 01-18-2011, 01:55 AM #148Thanked by 2:
