No Service problem on Fascinate

Several weeks ago I rooted my Fascinate without any issues.

It has been running fine until recently when I started getting the no service icon where the bars normally would appear.

I am in an area with very good service, so I don't think that is the issue.

I have restarted the phone, removed the battery, etc. This hasn't helped.

I have not had a chance to experiment with moving to a new cell area, so it is possible that they may be doing work in the area, but this is happening fairly often now, so I'm starting to think it may be the phone.

Could the rooting of the phone cause this, or is it more likely a bad phone.

I'm thinking the best option is to unroot the phone and bring it back to stock so I can return it at the Verizon store, unless someone has another suggestion.

Thanks.

No rooting would not cause this....what modifications did you make after you rooted

No mods, that I know of.

The only apps that I've added that require rooting are:

BlackList
Super User

I'm thinking this is a phone issue, but just wanted to make sure.

Put this on the sd card,,,not in any folders
http://adrynalyne.us/files/patches/DI01_to_DL09.zip
rename it to update

then shut off your phone
hold down volume up+down+power
samsung will flash twice , after the second time let go
this will take you into recovery
then scroll down to apply sdcard:update.zip hit the home button to select
this is the official signed update and will update your phone

I got that to load. I can select the file by moving the highlighted text with the volume.

How do I select that? I pushed the power button, that doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks again. This has been very helpful.
