Assigning ringtones

Is there a way to assign ringtones and text alerts to people in my contacts?

Select Contacts > Select your contact > Menu > Edit > Select Ringtone..

That should do it..

I don't see Select Ringtone in the edit field.

I am using Superclean 2.4 (Andriod 2.2), What OS are you using? - I have been away from 2.1.1 for so long that i cannot remember the field functions...

You may have to go to your music player/file manager and assign it that way - Set as ringtone.

Yes I'm still on 2.1 awaiting the official Froyo update.

If you scroll down after you select the Edit option you will see the ringtone option

Contacts> (pick a contact) Menu>Edit then scroll down.

if for whatever strange reason you want to stay with 2.1, i can imagine why, but if you do, you have to create a contact on your phone and link it to your google contact. if the name is the same then it will automagiclly link.

you cannot asign ring tones to google contacts in 2.1.
