Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
Will the extended battery fit with the existing stock battery cover?
verizonwireless.com has the batteries for $25 and i'd like one but if I have to use the extended cover then my case won't fit. - 12-16-2011, 01:59 PM #2
Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
No, however if you leave the cover off the extended battery WILL fit in the Verizon holster and belt clip. But if the back is on it won't quite fit. The holster shell covers the back.
I am doing that at the moment though I am not thrilled about it. I am amazed they didn't just use the extended size as the regular battery. I mean now users need to find accessories that will work with the extended battery and that's on top of the Verizon version being slightly different dimensions than the GSM version. It's a mess and for the millimeter or so, it's not worth the hassle on the accessory side in my opinion.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
I picked up the battery today along with the silicone case which fit just fine. As noted in other threads though the holster/case combo and the Otter Box case/combo are not an exact fit or fit too tightly or just plain fit poorly based on user feedback. I gave up on holsters and got the silicone case.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
The extended battery is only $25 right now. The original back will not quite fit with it. I bought one and love the way it fits the phone. You would never know the phone had the extended battery if you hadn't used the phone without it. It fits the way you would expect the phone's back to be shaped.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
Absolutely agreed! In my opinion they should have considered the way it looks with the extended battery to be the normal look, that way they could have possibly designed an even bigger battery to fit. Its a much more secure fit in the palm, and I have Lumberjack hands, so its a big help!
I am able to squeeze my normal battery door on, which I would not reccoment unless you are trying to squeeze it in to a tightly fitting case. - 12-17-2011, 11:18 PM #9Google Nexus Class Devices (Nexus7, Nexus4, Galaxy Nexus lte VZW)...@moosc on twitter ...

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
I agree 100%. I like the look of it thinner (although you can barely tell) and I hate the way the camera lens looks recessed with the extended cover, but the feel of the phone is better with the extended battery. The weight is better in your hand, and the extra girth allows it to make contact with my palm, which makes me feel like I'm holding it more securely.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
Now I beg to differ. I just installed the extended battery from Verizon and as an experiment decided to try to put the original cover back on rather than the new one that came with the extended battery. Works perfectly! The cover fits tightly and snaps on all the way around. I see no need for the extended battery cover.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
While many have fit the standard battery cover over the extended battery I would be worried about putting to much stress/pressure on the tabs that hold the cover on the phone. Does the battery come with the new cover? If so I don't see any reason to use the standard one anyway?

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
As I said, the original cover fits just fine. I can't see any difference in how it fits opposed to the extended battery cover.
As to the reason why I don't want to use the extended battery cover, its because I want to carry the extra battery to swap with when the first battery gets low. I don't want to have to have to carry both the battery AND the extra cover with me. The only other way to solve that would be to have two batteries exactly the same size which would mean getting another battery to match. - 01-09-2012, 11:12 AM #22
Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
Yes, a new cover comes with the extended battery. However, I never tried it. I just put in the extended battery and put the original cover back on.
There's absolutely no sign of stress on the clips. No extra effort is needed to push on the cover with the extended battery. - 01-09-2012, 12:38 PM #23
Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
Trying to use the standard cover, with the extended battery is not a good idea. It will cause the bottom of the cover to stop snapping. I had that issue after trying to force it on. Anybody that says it fits with ease, is lying. I had to buy a new cover. I took the extended battery back. It's not worth the extra 20-30 minutes of use. Just got the extra standard battery, with charger.

Re: Will extended battery fit with the standard battery cover?
i don't think anyone is lying. Every unit has different tolerances and opinions are subjective.
If I'm dealing w/OEM materials under warranty, I myself will stick with what the mfg says is the correct configuration. eg, no mixing/matting backs and batteries, no leaving off the back cover to accomodate a case. That's my opinion, everyone can experiment as they want to.
