Ncipio Double Case DIY Experiment VZW GN

Ok so my extended battery showed up yesterday and I of course dumped that puppy in. I have seen lots of ideas floating around as to how to best get a case to fit. I looked at all the videos and folks seemed to like the current double incipio case, but it just didn't fit right.

Now my solution is not perfect and I appologize in advance for not taking a lot of time to clean up the video I am about to present. My video camera (non-phone mind ya) is kinda old so doesn't focus too well. I decided to pull out my old reliable Ryobi Sander and go at the plastic inside cover of the Incipio Case (right about where the wording pokes through.

In the end I can live with this case until a perfect one comes out. But I haven't had any drawbacks to doing it this way that I have found. I can access all plug ports and buttons easily. Best of all I didn't have to leave my back off of the phone or put additional pressure on the innards of the device. Its hard to see the small seam on one side because its a black on black case (I tried for another but they only had Black/Black and Pink/Black). I do a lot for my peeps.. but not sure I can pull off a pink phone at the family get togethers.

If nothing else, maybe it will give you an idea as to something else you can try. And as a side note: Right after I put on the shell to show you all I dropped my phone. It bounced and lived to tell about it. Good timing I suppose.

Ahhh smart man! I've been thinking about doing the same thing for a dew days now.

Option 1 was taking a dremel to the hard case.

Option 2 was taking a razor blade and shaving a bit off the rubber part.

I also considered taking a stock cover and taking the dremel to it, just shaving off a VERY small portion. Then using the stock cover with the extended battery.

I was actually surprised that the Rubber part molded so well around the phone even with the extended battery. The main issue is definately the plastic hard case (well issue using it with the extended frame anyway). Option 1 would work good too I think. I always hate messing with the actual phone covers. Although if I messed up I could get one of those that had the Google Imprint from ebay

I'm just using the double case with the extended battery with no modifications and I'm having no problems at all. There's a slight bulge but I've gotten used to it.

Same here. Working out great for me. The bulge is so slight I don't really even notice it.
