Does anyone know if this will charge both the standard and extended battery?

Yes it will. However, the plastic cover will not close all the way. You can still dock the phone though.

Cover is removable.

Take the rubber feet of each corner of the back cover of the charger. Remove the screws that are where the feet were. Then remove the cover by pushing it back down through the charger while pushing against the hinge edge of the door to push the hinge out of its socket.

Throw the door away if you want since it really isn't needed.

I thought the door opens up against the back of the device when used as a stand. If you throw it away, you lose that functionality.

No it doesn't its hinged at the opposite end
