Keep losing CWM each time I fastboot

I unlocked my replacement device & upgraded to the 4.0.4 radios, I didn't root since Im only wanting to flash kernals. I used a toolkit on another site to flash CWM permanently, the problem im having is that im losing cwm everytime i fastboot..what am i doing wrong? My last nexus i flashed cwm 1 time thru this kit and it stayed.

You didn't root?

There's a file for you to fix that should help, but you need root access.

Look up "recovery-from-boot.p" here; there's a lot of info. Essentially, you need to find it and rename it to "recovery-from-boot.p-bak"

Also, I believe Wug's toolkit does this automatically. I haven't had a problem with it (in fact I couldn't even find it), but alas.

I just held off on rooting due to receiving ota updates....guess it makes sense to root since ive done everything else

If you root you will be able to get updates BEFORE ota!
