Installation Guide​

[NOTE]These .zip files are for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and each .zip file contains both the CDMA and LTE Radio. These radios will work on all current Verizon Galaxy Nexus roms, stock or custom, and will work with any existing bootloader/recovery. Radios are not saved when you make nandroid backups, they will persist until you change them again.[/NOTE]

[WARN]Flashing a radio incorrectly, or flashing a corrupted radio file, may harm your device, so please read the directions and pay attention when you flash: Verify that the md5 sum matches (explained below), make sure you have enough battery (MINIMUM 35% to be safe), and always make nandroid backups before you flash things just because (it's a good habit that will keep your phone safe). You flash at your own risk like always.[/WARN]

How to Flash A Radio In Recovery Mode​

These radios are flashable in recovery mode, which makes them very easy to apply. To do so, you need to have flashed a custom recovery (typically this will be a version of clockworkmod recovery - see CyberWarrior's GUIDE for further instructions on how to flash recovery, make backups, flash roms, and beyond).

Step 1: Make a nandroid backup in Clockworkmod Recovery ("CWM") before you begin.
If you already have backups, skip. It's not crucial to flashing a radio, but you should have a backup ready at all times so just do it.

Step 2: Download the radio you wish to flash from Post #2 below.
Download the Radio .zip either from the phone's browser (which will save to Sd Card>Download; or download to your computer and copy over to your SD Card via usb.

Step 3: Verify the MD5 sum that corresponds to the radio you are going to flash.
I have listed the md5 sum for each radio .zip. You need to check the md5 of the file you have downloaded against the md5 I have listed to make sure that they match EXACTLY. If they don't match, DO NOT FLASH THE .ZIP - instead, try downloading again until they match. You don't want to flash a corrupted radio file, or you may have downloaded the wrong thing by accident.

[TIP]How to Check the MD5 Sum
Once the Radio file is on your SD Card, you can check the md5 sum using a file manager such as astro or OI file manager, or you can download the app HASHDROID in the market (all of these are free). Using a file manager, navigate to the radio file on your sd card, long press the file, and then check the md5 sum (the character string). In astro, specifically, long press the file and then go to Details, where it will list the sum. Using Hashdroid, open the app and navigate to the file you wish to check, then copy and paste the md5 I have supplied and it will check them for you.[/TIP]
Step 4: Reboot into Recovery Mode and Flash the Radio .zip
To reboot into recovery mode manually, turn off your device, then turn it back on while holding volume up + volume down + power simultaneously until you get to the bootloader screen (android guy on his back with his chestplate open). Then navigate to RECOVERY by pressing the volume keys, and select RECOVERY by pressing power.

Once in Recovery mode, navigate with volume keys to Install Zip From SD Card --> Choose Zip From SD Card --> Find the Radio .zip file where you put it and select the file with the power button.

The radios will install - don't be alarmed if the CDMA radio takes a minute or two - and then you will select Reboot System Now.

Allow your phone to boot up, then you can check and see that the new radio was applied in Settings>About Phone>Baseband Version.

To change it back just DL a different radio and repeat the steps.

HOW TO FLASH A RADIO IN FASTBOOT​

[NOTE]This section will guide you through FASTBOOT installation of Verizon Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE radios. Radio .img files are flashable only in Fastboot with terminal/commands, and are not flashable in Recovery mode. Please refer to Post #1 for instructions on how to flash a radio in Recovery. [/NOTE]

[WARN]As always, flashing corrupted radios will not be a pleasant experience (bricks are possible), so please verify md5 sums for each radio you wish to flash.
DO NOT disconnect the phone from the computer or do a battery pull while flashing radios or waiting for radios to load.
And lastly, you flash at your own risk etc. [/WARN]

INSTRUCTIONS:​

These radio .img files must be flashed in Fastboot, using terminal/commands. Therefore, these instructions will assume that you have already set up ADB (android development bridge), Fastboot, and have some understanding of terminal/commands (that is, you know how to open the command window, and you can follow directions).

[TIP]For those who do not have ADB/Fastboot set up, I suggest you read through this guide from AC MOD DMMARCK to get you Adb/fastboot for the purposes of unlocking the bootloader and rooting your device in the first place, which if you haven't already done so you should do so now, as flashing radios in fastboot requires that your bootloader be unlocked anyway.[/TIP]

Step 1: Download the Radio .img file(s) you wish to apply.
On your computer, download the Radio(s) you are going to flash (the files can be found below). Make sure you download the Radio .img files for fastboot, not radio .zip files (for recovery). Move the radio .img file(s) into the same folder as fastboot.exe.

Step 2: Verify md5 checksum for the Radio file(s).
Windows Users - There are lots of programs you can get to verify the md5 on a windows computer, this one is free but I have not used it so take this with a grain of salt. Anwyay, check the md5 against the character string provided below with the radio file download, and make sure they match exactly.
Mac Users - The easiest way to check the md5 on a mac is to open Terminal and "cd" to the folder that contains fastboot.exe and the radio files you have just moved into the same. As an example, pretend that your fastboot.exe file is in a folder called "adb" and the "adb" folder is on your desktop. You would enter the following commands:

cd desktop
cd adb
md5 filename.img

Make sure that the md5 checksum matches exactly the md5 listed for each radio you are going to flash, and if they do not match exactly do not flash the file. Instead, try to download again, and check the md5 again, to make sure you got a good download and the file is complete. Flashing a corrupted radio file can brick your phone.

[warn]YOU MUST NOT DISCONNECT FROM THE COMPUTER OR PULL THE BATTERY OR RUN OUT OF BATTERY POWER WHILE FLASHING RADIOS IN FASTBOOT. THIS WILL HARM OR POSSIBLY BRICK YOUR PHONE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 75 PERCENT BATTERY AT LEAST TO BE SAFE.[/warn]

Step 3: Reboot to bootloader.
Make sure that your phone has "USB debugging" selected (settings>developer options). Next, connect your phone to your computer via usb (window's users will need the appropriate drivers installed ... for more info, see this GUIDE by CyberWarrior).

Now that you are connected to the computer, you can reboot to the bootloader either manually (power off, then power on while holding volume up + volume down + power) or in the command prompt/terminal window by entering this command:
PC:

adb reboot bootloader

MAC:

./adb reboot bootloader

Step 4: Flash the radio file in fastboot.
For the purpose of flashing radios in fastboot, you MUST flash the CDMA radio FIRST, and the LTE radio SECOND. The reason being that the CDMA radio may override the LTE radio.
Now that you are in fastboot (your phone shows the android on his back with his chest plate opened up), in the command prompt/terminal window enter the following commands:

Windows Version - This assumes that the folder that contains fastboot.exe is in c:
Note that I am going to call this folder "adb", but you will have to use whatever name your folder is called, and where it is located (ex: c:) in your command prompts.

So, assuming all of that, in the command prompt window, enter the following commands (press enter after each line):

cmd cd c:/adb fastboot flash radio radio-name-cdma.img

Allow it to install - This may take a few minutes, don't panic, AND DO NOT DISCONNECT OR PULL THE BATTERY.
Next, install the LTE radio:

fastboot flash radio radio-name.img

Mac Version: Let's assume that your folder containing fastboot.exe ("adb") is located on your desktop, as in the example from above, so you will enter your commands like this:

cd desktop
cd adb
./fastboot flash radio radio-name-cdma.img
./fastboot flash radio radio-name.img

Step 5: Power off.
After you have installed the radio files, you can scroll with the volume keys to "Power Off," and select that with the power button.
When your phone powers off, you can exit the command/terminal window, disconnect your phone, and then restart.

You can check the radio version by going to Settings>About phone, where you can verify the baseband version(s).

Just did this today (after unlocking and rooting my Gnex yesterday). Works like a charm so far.
