Still on BB, have a few questions

I have not changed ROMs for a very long time, and I am still on the latest BB (at least what I think is the latest). I have been perfectly happy because it is super smooth, which is a priority for me. But lately my home screens have been weirdly freezing. They still work, but what is showing never changes, such as in the widgets. This can get annoying. And, I have been wondering whether the new 4.2.2 ROMs are as smooth, since 4.2.2 was a huge step backward on my N7. Is there enough about a new 4.2.2 ROM that makes it work changing? If so, which is the closest to BB, meaning closest to stock?

I was in the same situation. Was on BB for a long time and just switched to MMuzzy (french vanilla ROM). It is very close to stock. Vanilla MMuzzy is very close to BB.
