I have searched for a non-destructive root for my Verizon Samsung galaxy nexus and am coming up empty handed. Is this even possible anymore. I am needing to recover contacts/texts after an accidental wipe and I need root access. I am running Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Build JDQ39. Noob....please be gentle..... :)

Technically rooting isn't destructive. It's unlocking the bootloader that wipes everything. If you're unlocked, root away and you'll be fine. If not, I think you're out of luck. There was an exploit that allowed rooting the G-Nex without unlocking the bootloader, but Google patched it in 4.2.

You won't be able to recover that with root anyway.
