Re: love francos kernel
I am currently at 68% and off of charger for just over 8 hours (8h14m)
But i am not a super heave user: Texts, phone, music (not streaming) for 25 min and a little web browsing.
Currently I have Franco's kernel (13.1) set to 13500 max / 350 min and hot plug enabled
Battery seems to be a tough one to gauge from others, everybody uses there phone a little differently. All you can do is give it a shot and if you don't like the results switch back.
I would recommend enabling Hot plug and 350min. That seems to make the biggest difference in my battery life.Sent Via..Raven from Kings Landing

Re: love francos kernel
I like Franco's alot too, but right now I seem to be getting good battery life with GlaDOS kernel.

Re: love francos kernel
I just enabled Hot plug on mine with the new 14 version, low is 350 and max of 1350 with on demand governer and I love it more than before.I'm about to hit 4 hours and at 84%. Haven't done much other than texting, a few glance at FB, checked emails but no heavy streaming yet today. I di have 3 emails syncing on push, FB set to an hour and BW also set to an hour. Lovin this phone and Devs!

What does hotplug do? If enabled, can I still get notifications?

Re: love francos kernel
HotPlug shuts down one of the cores when the screen is off.

i use setCPU, it does everything but check and download new versions of the kernel
I bought the app though, always good to support devs that do good work.

Re: love francos kernel
I purchased Franco's kernal 14.1 and have checked the hotplug enabler. I would like to overclock/undervolt to increase my battery life but am scared to pull the trigger because I am not 100% sure how to do it. I have looked in the forums for a dummy guide to this kernel and it's settings and haven't found the answers. When I go into his app there are settings for Overclock and undervolt with a bunch of warnings etc. in each. I would be greatful if someone would explain in "dummy terms" for me on how to do this to maximize battery life.
Thanks in advance

Re: love francos kernel
If you want great battery life, try the francoturtle governor first before adjusting any clock speeds or voltage settings. Keep in mind, you can't have blazing speed AND great battery life. You need to find what works best for you. If you want V8 performance and want to sip gas like a 4 cylinder, it's not happening. I know benchmarks are not real world performance, but I did notice a big hit using francoturtle and a little less of a hit using francogazelle. But, using interactive governor, I am getting my best scores yet. Haven't tried performance yet.

Re: love francos kernel
Two questions:
1) is everyone using the latest version of franco (3.0.18-franco.Kernel-nightly-15.1)?
2) If I set my performance from settings in the set CPU settings from my ROM (codename android), is that enough or do I need to be altering them elsewhere, like with the Franco updater or SetCPU app, as well? - 02-01-2012, 08:34 PM #19
Re: love francos kernel
1) I don't install every update that's released. I will download it. If I am getting bad performance or battery life, I will install it.
2) If you have the Franco updater app, use that. It's worth the small price if you haven't downloaded it already, if not than to just have the hotplug option enabled. You can use SetCPU if you don't have it, but Franco's app also includes his own governors.Thanked by: - 02-01-2012, 08:59 PM #20

I get best results with 14.4. Btw, Franco says to set
minimum speed to 700. Something about too much throttling. Works good for me.

Re: love francos kernel
I seem to agree with you, 14.4 was real good on my battery. 15 and 15.1 didn't start off good and phone got a little warm. Like stated above, 15.2 seems to be very good so far for me too.
Edit: And his new app update looks a lot cleaner and you can now turn off his boot animation some didn't like too much. - 02-02-2012, 12:14 PM #25
Re: love francos kernel
I tried 15 and my battery tanked, so I went back to 14.4. I didn't try any other governer other than the default turtle one. Thanks for the tip on 15.2, will check it out. These kernel updates come out faster than you can flash...almost eh lol
"So I have had my new kernel/rom for 15 minutes....wheres my stinkin update?!"
FUN TIMES!
