Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
I would like to know too, I just care about battery life, not all these unnoticeable tweaks.

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
I've ran both ROMs on the Nexus S 4G which are basically mirror builds of what you have on the Galaxy Nexus. Honestly the ROM plays a part in overall battery life/performance but the real deciding factor comes down to what kernel you pick to use with them.
The ROMs themselves are like brother and sister... Mix match of much of the same mods and tweaks just presented in different ways. The real only outstanding difference between the two is the notification pulldown toggles, which I prefer AOKP's use of ICS's own switches for toggle options (like the on/off switches for WIFI/BT in Settings).
Just my opinion since I've ran em both and themed both of them too... Thought I would share.

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
franco supposedly has really good kernels for battery

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
I run Franco's on Codename and get good battery life (about 40% left around mid night), but sadly, battery life is relative only to you, how you use your phone. and the apps you choose to run. I suspect that most of the popular ROMs and the popular kernels are within a few percentage points of each other in regards to battery drain (given that some of the crappy ones may not fall into this category).
Where you see big differences are from one guy who runs any ROM/kernel combo and plays video games or watches netflix for 4 or 5 hours a day and says the battery sucks, vs another guy who has the same ROM/kernel and only has 1 hour of screen time and says it's great with 48 hours of battery life. My opinion is to run whichever you like best, whichever seems to make your phone run the fastest, and your battery life will be pretty close to the same, regardless of what ROM you're using. Some may disagree with me, but that's why I called it an opinion, not a fact. So far, no matter what ROM/kernel I'm running, I do the same things with my phone and get the exact same battery life.Semper Fi

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
Big key factor too....
No two devices run things the same.... My setup, choice of kernel and kernel settings/tweaks may not even run on your device. That's just the nature of the beast with kernels. The devs have to create them with in a happy medium that works for most devices across the board and from there its up to the user to tweak them to their likings from there.Last edited by Paul627g; 01-28-2012 at 12:25 PM.

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
I'm using Codename and I do skype nearly everyday on the phone as well as being a heavy google+ user. I'm happy w/ the ROM and see no real reason to try another one for a while.

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
I just flashed my first ROM today (AOKP) and love it. My first choice was Codename but I chose AOKP at the last minute. Now I'm trying to find info on kernels.. is there a compatibility question when looking for kernels using a custom ROM?

Re: AOKP vs. Codename Android
Both are very close in performance and features/option and you can't go wrong with either one and IMO are the best two choices. As far as the kernel discussion imoseyon lean kernels have provided me with the best battery life but each phone is different like previously stated.
