Codename Android 1.2.0 maps always open?

Like the title says I always notice that maps is an open app. Can't seem to figure out why? Any suggestions, my concern is this will kill battery?

Where do you see that Maps is open? Is it under the Recent Apps list or somewhere else? I'm running 1.2.0 and don't see it.

Maps has always seemed to run on ICS once installed..

Not sure why... Even if you kill the app it returns ...

It's not something I've paid attention to or noticed before, but now I won't be able to stop checking.

It's a bug in the actual Maps app. The only way to get rid of it is to unistall updates for the Maps app.

I noticed it running continuosly also and just remember to freeze the app with Titanium Backup as needed.

Not seeing it on mine. I thought I remembered reading that the latest Maps update fixed this. If not, possibly it related to your launcher (if you're using a 3rd party one like Nova). I'm just using the stock/default launcher from the Codename install.

I'm not seeing this either on 1.2.0. After seeing the post on this issue, I ran maps and did a few searches. Closed out in the recent apps list a couple of hours ago and it hasn't come back.

I noticed it on 1.1.1, as well as AOKP 21, which I am currently running.
It's not using much data.

I've noticed it also every now and then... usually after rebooting the phone it appears. Once I swipe it away it never returns. It doesn't show up in apps running. I never turn on GPS. Still getting great battery life though. I may just freeze it until needed (if ever) like one previous poster mentioned. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be affecting anything besides just being listed in the recent apps.

It auto-starts every time I boot my phone. I can see it in the recent apps drawer. I swipe it closed and it doesn't return so hopefully it's not running somewhere in the darkest recesses of Android OS killing my battery...

Its the newest update I believe if you go into settings/apps and to maps click on uninstall updates it should stop worked for me.

it does not work for me on Gnex ICS 4.04

I have always heard that you need to open it and let it lock in your location and then it will stop running. Seems to work for me ....

This works 99% of the time. Just make sure to let it find you and let it say "updated to latest version."

Once it does, it won't be in your app tray upon reboot again.
