Unlocked/Rooted...Market slow?
Posted this in sticky thread but wanted to make a new one...
Just unlocked/rooted...everything seemed to go successfully. It's now restoring my apps from market, but everything is downloading extremely slowly. Browser seems to work fine. Could I have messed something up?
Edit: Finally got through the first app it was downloading (Where's My Water...btw, badass game) and now it seems to be going more quickly. WMW? was a wifi only DL...I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Edit 2: And now it's going slow again. When I did the unlock/root, I didn't have the driver file downloaded all the way (although when it did download I opened it and it said drivers were already installed or something similar) - could this be a cause? Or if the correct Samsung drivers had not been present, would the whole process have failed entirely?
Sorry about the questions....first time rooter. - 01-31-2012, 08:49 PM #2
Re: Unlocked/Rooted...Market slow?
Unlocking and rooting should have nothing at all to do with you market download speed. I would worry about it. Mine always goes pretty slow after I wipe the phone when flashing a new ROM. A lot of those apps have some decent size databases attached to them. If I do it at home and have my WiFi connection, it goes much faster (unless my kid is steaming something on Netflix).
Out of curiosity, how are you downloading them...3g, 4g, wifi? It could just be a crappy network connection.Semper Fi

Re: Unlocked/Rooted...Market slow?
I was on a home wifi connection - some apps DLed at a decent speed and some just went so slowly. My question is, had I not had the correct drivers on my computer during unlock/rooting, would it not have allowed me to unlock/root, or would it have allowed me to (like it clearly did) and left me with a gimpy wifi connection?
What do the Samsung drivers do during the process?
Edit: my home wifi has been fast in terms of downloading apps in the past.
