Replacing old roms with new roms
Hi I am a beginner ar rooting my galaxy nexus, and currently am using the gummy nex rom 0.7.0, with the franco kernel. I am wondering how to update my rom at all? Also I am trying to install the 4.0.4 radios and whenever I try to install the .zip file it says installation aborted, and also I was trying to install text icons for the bottom keys and i have the same results. I also am running nova launcher if that affects anything at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Re: Replacing old roms with new roms
You didn't say exactly how you were trying to install these things. For me, it's one of 2 ways...
For a ROM or an update to a ROM:
Download the ROM file
Reboot into recovery
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvic
Wipe Data
Format System (under Mounts menu)
Flash ROM (or ROM update)
For MOD (including radios, kernels or anything else that is not a ROM)
Download the file
Reboot into recovery
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvic
Flash ROM (or ROM update)Semper Fi

Re: Replacing old roms with new roms
FYI, dalvik is in advanced options (unless it's been moved lol)
Essentially, always wipe. 9/10, problems come from not wiping and conflicts just ravaging stuff.Former moderator & advisor.

Re: Replacing old roms with new roms
Ok thank you for your help, I just updated my Rom now. I have one more quick question though, I have downloaded the .zip file for the new radios from 4.0.4 and tryed to install it right after I had flashed the update for my gummy rom. Everytime I do though it says installation aborted. Do i have to wipe the data and cache and dalvik all again or should it just work? I tried also installing a .zip file for some font icons for my soft keys and I had the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
p.s. the way I install the roms is plugging the phone into the computer and putting the zip file onto the phone then going to recovery and installing from sd - 02-08-2012, 08:13 PM

You need gapps. Then all will be OK. Download them onto your laptop/desktop. Whatever you use. Then push them to your nexus. Reboot into cwm and flash. Then you'll get the login screen and all will be good to go
I see you have flashed gapps. Its possible the download was corrupt. Try and flash again. If that doesn't work then try to redownload them

Re: Replacing old roms with new roms
You dont have to flash those icons from the zip you just put the icon files (unzip them) on your phone (you can put them in the download directory), then edit the icons on your homescreen by long pressing on one then select "edit" then press the icon that pops up (the old icon) then select your icon where you saved it (it will give you options to change the icon. The icon will then change to your new one. No need to flash or even have a rooted phone to do this...
