Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
Anyone here actually have a nexus 10? I know multiple people have the 7, just looking for honest opinions on the thing. I'm contemplating getting one for the upcoming semester, but I still want something portable.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
Depends on what I end up getting. I really need a new workstation, and if I get one it'll take up much of the budget. I'm still trying to decide. I think the N7/N10/Surface and likely RAZR HD Developer Edition are on the list.
Edit: though I'm worried that I may end up using the Surface more than the N10. We'll see. Also, my hotspot is about to go out (really need to solve this whole USB charging issue).

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
Cheap workstation, decent power, and quad-monitor support. I've worked with almost all manufacturers/builders, and all solutions are $2800-3200. If anyone has any good ideas that cut that price down, I'll send you a Nexus device.
No joke either. Help me and I'll help you.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
Build the boxes yourself as opposed to buying preassembled. Don't buy both the N7 and the N10. Seems redundant when the bugs you encounter will be due to software and not hardware.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
an older aquaintence wants me to fix his computer. I said sure. He dropped it off today. Its running Win2K... with a 6Gb HDD. This could get interesting, since Windows hasn't supported W2K for quite a while now....

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
I've wanted to for a while, but don't quite have the hardware experience to put it together (logistically/technically, not the actual assembly). I'll send you that PM.
As for the tablets, I'd like a ten-inch Android tablet again. I really enjoyed using the old Galaxy Tab 10.1 that I had. I might well get the N7 and Surface and wait to see if I have the desire for the N10.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
In what way? I've been using various Windows 8 tablets on and off for over a year, and they have worked very well for me. I wrote something up about it a while back in chatter, here it is. 4.1.2/4.2 have relevancy against some of my points, but most of the post is still valid in my opinion.
And I'll copy you on the PM.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
I got a few that I wanted already, I'm primarily looking for apps worth paying for. I like the stock launcher and keyboard. I did buy swiftkey 3 but not a fan of it so far. I'm looking for utility apps, stuff I will use or just worth buying the premium or non add apps. I haven't rooted and really don't know how to but want to learn. I have seen some paid back and root apps, but not sure what the good ones are.

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."
You might as well wait until you decide to root before buying apps that require root. If you go that route, Titanium Backup and Root Explorer are two that I recommend.
There are lots of worthwhile photo/camera apps if you're looking for something with more features than the stock app. Let me know.
The last app that I bought was Press, which I read about on the blog. I'm a news junkie and it's a great RSS reader that doesn't require opening an external browser.
