I'm on V6 right now with the Trinity kernel. I have never seen such awesome battery life. Just made a Nandroid, and will download and flash the Monolith. Hope it doesn't disappoint with battery life.

Updated the thread. Removed the V7 std/sho links, replaced with B1. Added the UI revert as well.

FYI - I did a direct download from RW to my phone and got a bad file. Redid it on my Mac, and perfect.

So be careful!

about to reboot and apply the ui revert. TGIFinally back i can't deal with the smokey-axiom icon in the dropdown bar ... drives me nuts for some reason.

Anyway - this rom has stolen a little piece of my heart where aokp used to live ... but i guess it really is just aokp with a few tweaks and different baked in kernel the way i use it anyway (reverted ui).

Totally read the line in the op ---> ADDITIONAL: IT IS HIGHLY, I REPEAT HIGHLY ADVISED TO WIPE EVERYTHING ON THE MONOLITH BUILDS.. THE AMOUNT OF FLASHING WE DO AROUND HERE, GET THE BEST EXPERIENCE WITH A CLEAN SLATE. JUST SAYIN..

I do a fresh nandroid before every update and it is fairly easy to recover from bootloops and FC with backups. With the frequency these things are coming out the setting up part is annoying. Plus I lose stuff like call logs and stuff I enter into color note and small stuff. After a full rom flash and EVERYTHING is still there including all your rom control settings, you kinda get spoiled.

I don't condone this and would never tell anyone to do this...I feel comfortable in fixing broken stuff is why I choose to do it this way. You purists may scoff and that is fine. After all it IS MY phone right? Untill issues pop up I will probably keep doing this. I am just relating to you guys what I AM DOING.

DT mentioned jokingly he keeps a list of the dirty upgrades...I hope I ain't on it haha

The original DL (direct from phone) would not install (kept aborting). I did a reboot, was stuck at Google w/ unlock icon for 5 minutes. Rebooted into recovery via Bootloader, restored a Nandroid, then did the DL again on a computer and transferred it via USB.

BLAZING fast, but that's expected. I'm also not wading through the 80 pages I missed on RW, so does anyone have any cliffnotes? lol

personnally, i just developed a zen-like approach to flashing and maintaining my phone, so i just wipe and flash and set it back up - really doesnt take more than 20 min for me, esp bc i have the aokp-rom control settings practically memorized and could do it blindfolded by now.

oh also - i just dont want to do it twice, in case the dirty install doesnt work out.

That being said, it's good to know that so far so good for you two.

If any newbie flashers are reading, please ignore mclarryjr and zero neck, for they know not of the wrath that awaits them .

(That and since I'm not DT nor am I officially connected to him in any way, shape or form, my job as attorney requires me to escape liability in every way possible, including issues regarding you, the "noob" flasher, when flashing roms clean, dirty, or otherwise. I'm on the fence with this rom. i like it and all, just not sure it really does anything for me that aokp doesnt.

anyway, that's the nice thing about android i guess.

dont get me wrong tho, happy with monolith b1. no complaints.

Lets be honest. This rom is real smooth and looking at the changelog, DT seems to have put a ton of tweaks under the hood, that maybe us mere mortals have a hard time actually seeing results.
My thought is we are being swept into a whirlwind of users raving and DT's stellar reputation and its creating somewhat of a semi placebo effect. You be thinking man this rom must be real hot and it is but maybe a bit over hyped.

When I was on plain aokp, I felt that was good, and this one runs fine also, yet when I ask myself honestly...is there any REAL improvements in speed? No, not really.
The boot anim is killer though. :-P

Bottom line is though, it is an excellent rom....and is getting swept up in a hype so bad?

I do notice it moving faster than the last AOKP rom I extensively "tried" (M3), but past that, I agree, some hype is there.

all true. and i won't deny it's very fast, particularly in homescreen switching and just general homescreen drawing. on the other hand, chrome is buggier than just on aokp from what i've noticed on these builds, and theres more re-drawing for me when not on homescreens (maybe has something to do with the forced homescreen in memory tweaks but i dont know enough to say).

anyway - its a good rom. it's fast. it's also new, so maybe it will get somewhat more stable in the next few days [hours knowing this guy].

It's good. Haha i didnt mean to sound whiney. And the hype is definitely part of the fun.

@ nmccready - i think it's just galaxy nexus as of now. not sure what is planned if anything for the future.

Anyone still getting that weird browser bug with the red finger like graphical thingers when you go to search in the url bar? I never noticed it because of chrome, but I did by accident now.

Fwiw, I had a bunch of titanium restored apps go ape crap on Sunday with v7. Chrome rebooted the phone. Did a batt pull and reset up those apps, and then all was well.
