It's amazing to me that Samsung let these phones pass quality control when there are numerous obvious problems. But, you'll eventually get a good one...

Signal strength aside, are you having terrible transitions between 3G and 4G? That is my largest gripe as it basically drops, turns off the radio, then the 3G comes on, but transition from 3G to 4G is seamless. Love this phone and custom ROMs, but the 4G to 3G transitions are driving me a lil crazy. Feel like 4G is unreliable.

Something interesting I found on the net that puts a solution to our connectivity issues im looking for answers not a new phone. Click on link hope it helps you to.
Let me know what you think.
This Is Why Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Or Other 4G LTE VZW Phone) Is Losing Its Data Connection
Not sure which radio to DL.
4.0.4 radio and bootloader OR
4.0.4 radio?
My gnex is rooted and unlocked. I'm running eclipse ROM. Here is the info on my about phone:
Version
4.0.4
Baseband
1515.09 V.EK05 / 1515.EK02
Build number
Eclipse_toro-userdebug 4.0.4 IMM76D
Quick question,,,, I installed the radio with the bootloader and everything worked fine. Playing with the gnex the way I do, I accidentally deleted a widget that I couldn't seem to get back. Fortunately I did a backup of my rom just before I installed the radio. I restored the rom and I still have the 1515.09 V.FC04 / 1515.FC05 radio.
My question is: when I restored my rom did it change the Bootloader or did it keep the one I just installed with the radio? Do I need to reflash the radio with the bootloader, or am I good?
Thank you again, I don't recall seeing anything during the restore backup that said the bootloader was being changed. I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess it up. Again, thank you!
Long time lurker chiming in here.
What are your all's experiences with the 3g to 4g and visa versa switiching? I've been trying out all sorts of different radio combinations but it seems I am out of signal quite often. After reading through this thread I think I'm just seeing the delay of when 4g signal is lost and the radio turns off before 3g kicks in.
Anyone found a way to speed this process up? The delay is more than enough to be noticeable, maybe 15-20 seconds when it happens. It happens enough that when I go to google something or send a message I have to stand around staring at my phone waiting for signal. :-(
Bad 4G area, switch to 3g only, that's really all there is to it. I'm at work now and know when I get here to switch to 3g only or the constant hand offs will drive me nuts, not to mention murder a battery.

Man, I was hoping I wouldn't get that response. At least I finally understand what's going on with my two Galaxy Nexuses. I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out why none of the fixes were working for me.
Maybe in a few updates they'll be able to improve the speed in which 4g switches to 3g? I guess people that don't notice this problem are able to sit on 4g or wifi pretty much all the time?
