Best Kernel for JB roms? (Vicious JB v3)
Hey Guys -
I am currently running the Vicious Jelly Bean v3 with the stock kernel. I was using Franco's #210 kernel but battery life was terrible and I dont need to overclock as I am only texting, browsing and dual core 1.2ghz is plenty fast.
What kernels are you guys using on your JB roms?

How is the battery life on that? I think at this point, battery life is my # 1 priority without affecting the smoothness of JB.

Brand New to Android Central and to android hacking, was just wondering is Vicious Jelly Bean v3 stable enough to use as a daily driver?

Alright, gonna give Trinity a try, because running Jelly Belly 1.6 (then 1.8), my battery's been draining pretty quickly, especially compared to when I was on AOKP. Hoping changing kernels fixes that. Also, is there any way to get rid of the Trinity boot screen? Didn't really want a different boot screen. :/

I thought it was /system/data. I didn't care for the Trinity boot animation either and went back to stock. I searched for the instructions (because I can't remember when I do it so infrequently) and it worked for me. Is there more than one way to skin a cat?

Yes. Putting stuff in /data/local will override anything within system/media (and other folders as well). Sorta like with Jelly Belly, there's an eri.xml file in /data (go check with Root Explorer). That's how you get your Verizon Wireless at the bottom. If you delete that, it reverts to the normal one which is contained within the framework.apk.

Re: Best Kernel for JB roms? (Vicious JB v3)
So, since I messed up my phone last time I flashed this could anyone tell me what to do? I flashed the trinity kernel after flashed the vicious Jelly Bean v3 and my phone got stuck in a boot loop, was that a fluke or should I try again?
Thanks in advance!Last edited by dalmi; 07-04-2012 at 04:39 AM.

I was on JB14 with the 15xx max, but I don't do much that justifies that clock... so I flashed back to JB13 with the 13xx max.
I didn't have much luck with Franco's JB kernels either. They seemed to extract my butter. Stock was better, and Trinity is even better.
And yes, more than one way to skin a cat. You can change boot ani's just swapping files in root explorer. It's faster than unpacking zips... but dm's a nerd, and he enjoys doing things differently... IE, bricking his phone a couple times a week so he can make updated guides on how to unbrick, LOL

Dear karma, please ignore my previous statement. Thanks homie.

Re: Best Kernel for JB roms? (Vicious JB v3)
I installed yesterday around 1PM and just battery just had more juice than normal by the time I got home with the same use. Also just notice things like while I'm checking RSS feeds, facebook and twitter the battery isn't like a "countdown" as it was on stock. Of course I'll get a much better idea over the next couple days but I have notice some things being a little better.
