Re: [ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style
Ok so I got TWRP installed and rebooted and checked it out, still only have done a back up with it..
following the clockwise order I do not see data on top to make a clockwise rotation, unless you mean format data, cache, dalvik and then system. <-- guidance please...
wipe screen:
Cache ******* Dalvik
Factory Reset ******* System
blank space ******* Internal Stoage
Format Data ******* blank space
As always THANKS! : ) - 07-26-2012, 08:13 AM #179
Re: [ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style
Factory Reset > Cache > Dalvik > System in that order. No need to format data. After you flash your new ROM and GAPPS it's becoming a habbit for me to hit "fix permissions" as well.
Ideally you want to use the GAPPS that the ROM description tells you to use, but if theres a newer one linked you should be fine to use it. Think back to this first though if you have any issues after the flash.so got the P4 file and on the first page it says to use gapps jb-2012-01-17-signed

You do NOT have to fix permissions. Since gingerbread its not necessary and can cause more harm than good. Any dev who tells you you need to is not worth a lick... Or maybe is giving you some weirdly experimental stuff to flash, idk.
Just words of wisdom
everything else Poseign mentioned is solid.

Steve Spear of the AOKP team posted on RootzWiki about a new test build. It's not being called "preview 5" yet, but I think it will be. Here is a link to his test site. Obviously, the one with a modification date of today is the one to grab (build 1 in the name). Seems like a good place to check for other updates in the coming days. As Steve said, this is his personal test build site. Nothing official about it. Happy flashing!

Re: [ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style
Running Preview 4 today, and I can watch the battery drain like it's being sucked through a straw. =/
Anybody know if it's the kernel that comes with AOKP p4? Or can recommend a better one? I didn't see any mention of which kernel it's packaged with."Some see the glass as half-empty, some see the glass as half-full. I see the glass as too big."

Same here. I am running P4 with Franco r224 and getting reasonable battery life.later about 8 hours, with 4 streaming YouTube and 2 streaming podcasts over 4g with Max brightness settings on the screen
I am however looking forward to seeing some updates as I have experienced some (in my opinion)big bugs like random reboots, poor GPS locks and wonky 4g/3g switching and this weird problem with my contact phone numbers being truncated and profile pics not showing. Oh well...only problem with being on the bleeding edge is sometimes you gotta bleed :o
I tried to think of something witty, but this is all I could come up with. - 07-26-2012, 10:08 PM #200
My last 5+ hours. To be fair though, the first 3 hours I was working in the equivalent of an underground bunker without Wifi access, so the radio/power negotiations had to be horrible.
