Please educate me on kernels
Ok, I've rooted, unlocked and have been installing CM10 via Euroskank everyday for weeks.
But, that's as far as I've gone. I see that many people install a custom kernel also. I have a wealth of ignorance when it comes to kernels. What do they do? Why would I want a custom one? Are they safe?
This is new territory for me so speak in terms I can understand.
Thanks, community, I know you'll come through as always! - 08-08-2012, 11:50 AM #2

Then again, you don't always need an outside kernel(outside of the custom ROM)to overclock. Just giving the other side of the coin here.

Honestly the kernel that is paired with CM10 is a beast by itself. I would stick with that. If you really want to flash a new kernel then I would say give Franco a go. Best performance and battery life I've seen for JellyBean so far. CM10 kernel isn't far behind though.
