overclocked
just over clocked using franco's kernel updater app..very nice. seems much more responsive now.
1.2ghz with the on-demand governor.
should hold me over for another 2-3 weeks, and if JB isnt out by then I guess a rom might be getting installed :PDevices: Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 - 08-15-2012, 05:55 PM #2
Lol.. It sounds like all you did was change the governor. 1.2 is the stock max setting. Did you flash a kernel or no?
If you are still on ICS then don't flash one, btw, as all the current kernels are only compatible with JB.

Re: overclocked
I'm not running setcpu Franco's app only goes to 1344mhz so I'll Max out the settings. Even at 1.2ghz and the new governed setting I was seeing a noticeable improvement. So this will be fine
thanks.for the help!

Re: overclocked
so If I flash the Nightly r196 that might be less stable but allow higher GHZ?
I am not going to right now but more info the better
I can also flash from the app imoseyon's Leankernel Stable 3.10.0 and exp 3.9.0exp6-230
if that means anything to you guys.Devices: Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 - 08-15-2012, 08:16 PM #12

Re: overclocked
Nope it wont!

have the setting for the kernel for screen off max mhz set to 729mhz
you guys should really look into the franco kernel updater app. $3.07 out of my remaining nexus 7 Play credit was worth it.Devices: Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 - 08-16-2012, 11:53 AM #15

Re: overclocked
Since the OMAP 4460 was underclocked from 1.5GHz to 1.2GHz from the factory to save battery I keep mine at 1.5. Looking at CPU Spy it seems very few functions require more than 729MHz. I streamed Netflix for a min just to get the high frequencies to show up. My question is does allowing a higher clockspeed still drain battery even if those frequencies are rarely used? I never go crazy (can go to 1.8GHz) but my phone is very stable and has "great" battery life. Just curious.

When they are used, the required voltage will be applied, so, enabling a higher clock speed does not necessarily mean quicker battery drain, but it would have an effect over time.
Also I believe our phones have the OMAP 4430, not 4460... Or am I mistaken? In any case I'm fairly sure it wasn't underclocked from 1.5, that just sounds off.. Hmm...
