Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel
Hello, my name is Alex Deida, I'm 21 and a lover of all things tech, mainly in the mobile catergory just because I love carrying this small devices that have so much power, and can do so much, yet they still constantly and continually advance and amaze me further.
-Crackberry
My first smartphone was a Blackberry Pearl. I loved that phone, I bought it from my brother, for like $50 and I was 16 years old at the time. I just loved how much it could do, and Opera Mobile was an amazing browser for its time. My favorite thing about the phone itself was it's apps, screen and keyboard, because it was so unique and much better to text on then my pervious Boost flip phone. Since, I wanted to learn more about it, I came by a site called Crackberry.com which was the first of your sites I came upon. Amazing site, and support from the comminituy. From there, I jumped to the Blackberry Curve which was even better.
-TiPB
In 2007 a little phone with an i in it was released. My brother bought one and showed me it, I was amazed and blown away. It seemed downright revoloutionary to me. I had to have it, and bought the 8gb for $400 when the price drop was announced. That phone made me imensely popular, everyone would just come up to me and ask me to see it, and I loved it immensely. Again, wanting to learn more about it, and get help I came upon tipb.com which was theiphoneblog.com at the time, I believe. The phone made everything so easy by just touching it. In 08' the iPhone 3G was annouced which I was honestly pissed about because it was what the first iPhone should've been 3G and GPS. Got it anyways, and then the 3GS was released. Got tired of the iPhone, espeically when it looked the same (3GS) so I traded it for a BB Curve 8900 which was a huge upgrade to the previous Curve, but I got tired of the BB OS altogether, it just felt so dated after using an iPhone so I saw something else that caught my eye.
-Precentral
My next phone was a Palm Pre, on Sprint. Man this phone was amazing, the way you multi-tasked and the UI was just so clean and beautiful but I really loved synergy in which it brought everything together for me. I really thought Palm had something with this phone and OS and could compete with iOS (boy, that didn't happen). Keeping up with the news about my favorite device, and getting help etc became a habit, so I jumped to Precentral.com, another amazing site, where I loved the community and ethusium everyone had.
-Androidcentral
In 2010, Android was getting a little popular but I wasn't a fan of it. I found the UI to be completely ugly and a rip off of iOS, just a terrible rip off. Then I heard about this new phone coming from Google and HTC, which would come with the new Android 2.1, and be completely stock. I loved the UI, I finally found the UI attratrive and the features great but the phone itself amazed me. 1ghz CPU, high res 480x800 AMOLED display (compared to 320x480 on both the iPhone and Pre) and just the verall look. I had to have it, and figure it was time to jump to Android because I was tired and the Pre, and it was a little to slow for my taste. Sold my Pre and Laptop, and bought N1, for $500 on release day. Man, I could'nt have been happier. Jumped to this site, Androidcentral to keep up on the news and learned how to root. My first ROM was CyanogenMod 5, and I was amazed at what I could do with this phone, like when I flashed a Sense UI port it freaking amazed me that I could have Sense on my phone that easily and the customization was insane to me. Since then I've been following Crackberry, Tipb, Precentral and Androicentral, as you all grew and changed. Was pretty amazing and I've been with you guys for 5 years (now 21) and since, have owned a Samsung Vibrant, G2, and Sidekick 4G. I now currently own a Nexus S 4G.
So, as you can see I'm quite a nerd, and love my phones. I've learned a lot throughout the years, and have a huge love for Android for it customization, where I love iOS for completely changing the mobile world for the better.

In terms of Forum Participation on this site and the others, I lurk in the backgroud. I'm mostly in XDA and much more active there just because that's where I find all my ROMS, Kernels, etc.
