[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySymqERaHEA[/YT]
Boom goes the dynamite.
Found this on YouTube...Phandroid has the same video up as well, ALSO they report that Indirect Stores have had the GN added to the Cellebrite system.

back up assistant? I don't want to complain because I know I'll get rid of it either way... but isn't that one of those apps that can't be uninstalled by normal means? Where as the MyVerizon is install able from the market. Do you guys see what I'm getting at??

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
No xero, most other manufacturers leave the nexus barebones, no added software.
I would also venture to guess that you cannot uninstall those programs by regular means....myverizon and back up assistant are two progs that cannot be uninstalled on vzw smartphones by default (if they are on their by default that is). - 12-02-2011, 05:12 PM #11

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
I'm pretty sure you can just hit up applications and uninstall. I don't think they're locked down into the phone to require root capabilities in order to remove.
Why can't I just get a terminal emulator and go rm -rf <program>? Android is linux isn't it? - 12-02-2011, 05:29 PM #14

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
You don't need root anymore with ics to do this. While you cannot free the storage taken up by the app, ics allows you to deactivate any app that is baked into the rom, it will not show up in your app tray and it will not use any background resources. The app will remain in your app list in settings were it can be reactivated if you choose to do so.

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
LTE speeds do vary depending upon your location. NYC is a little slower than Cleveland for example, but I always seem to get 7 mbps down minimum no matter where I am so long as LTE is available. In NYC over Thanksgiving, my sister's iPhone 4S didn't see nearly that speed. Reception and speed depend upon so many variables, so testing it out where you are is a must.
Pretty much the first thing I'm doing when I get the GN is disabling Backup Assistant. It doesn't beat being able to uninstall it, but close enough. - 12-02-2011, 06:34 PM #17

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
This has been addressed before, and no, it's not something that can't be uninstalled.
I honestly don't get the "outrage" over the 2 apps that verizon will include. It's 2 apps, and has no impact on your experience with the device. To me, the "outrage" is the same as people who like or dislike something purely because of the brand name, not because of the capabilities/characteristics of the product. - 12-02-2011, 09:13 PM #20
Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
Not so much. For me the case is not allowing VZW the possibility of accessing all my data and storing it on their server. It does impact my experience because every time I open up my app menu I'll see that ugly little red refresh sign with a lock in the middle....what a ing joke, a lock in the middle of an app that steals all my information and stores it on a VZW server (which btw if you don't opt out of VZWs marketing BS they may very well use this information).

Re: Galaxy Nexus LTE Speed Test Video - GN added to Indirect Stor
OMG you might have to see a red lock?! Oh the humanity!
As for a company using your info for marketing purposes, you do realize android is a google product right? The same company that scans your email and gives targeted ads based on content. They do the same thing with your mobile device.
Verizon adding 2 apps to the phone doesn't take away feo
Your experience, and certainly doesn't make your mobile activities less secure.
